Rchobby513 7 Posted May 26, 2014 I had gastric band in 2009 had a terrible time also - had it removed in Jan and bypass on May 6th - my first weighing in is tomorriw :-) Bridget - good luck tomorrow. Please keep in mind that even though you are not dumping, when you eat sugar (even Splenda) it increases your cravings for carbs and it makes you hungry. Try soft Proteins or sugar free Popsicles instead. Hope you are feeling better!
Bridget Jones 4 Posted May 26, 2014 Thank you so much for that advice - I hope I've lost a good amount of weight - that would really incentives me - I am really only eating Soup and cottage cheese and yoghurt - I need real food now :-) but im gonna try the sugar free ice lollys like u suggested :-)
niasia33 40 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) Hi everybody. I had my rny surgery on May 16th. My surgery itself went well but I was allergic to all of the pain meds they gave me and ended up with a full body rash that itched and drove me crazy and the only thing they could give me for pain was Tylenol and Tramadol. I dumped on the Tylenol and I was in agony and pure *ell! I stayed in the hospital for an extra day. I stayed for four days. I could not sip anything because of the pain. I was dehydrated. I constantly thought that I made a mistake about having the surgery. After 10 days post op I am doing much better. My pain is almost gone, I'm healing well, I'm able to get my fluids down somewhat and I'm working on my Protein thanks to Isopure. I have my post op visit tomorrow. I'm walking pretty good just not alone and while at the store I did have to use a motor cart. All and all I am glad that I had my surgery I'm just sorry I had to go through what I went through. I have lost 6lbs as of post-op day 7. I'm happy about that! Word of advice to anyone having surgery, if you are allergic to codeine as I am, make sure that the doc has a real pain med to give you for pain control BEFORE you have your surgery! MommaD88 20 Posted May 27, 2014 Had my surgery May 22nd like a lot of you having the fullness and pain. My surgery took over 5 hours and stayed in hospital for 4 days. Struggling with getting my liquids in and not even hungry but managing a 1/4 cup of applesauce or Jello. Far cry from where I want to be. I know my 10 day diet before surgery I dropped 14 lbs. so hopefully my eating/drinking will pick up soon. Have to get more Protein in today.
BariatricCeliac 33 Posted May 27, 2014 I think I experienced dumping syndrome for the first time last night. I felt absolutely terrible -- not something I want to happen again.
allielee 263 Posted May 27, 2014 Oh no! I'm sorry! I have had diarrhea every day so no idea if it's dumping lol no pain and I am not having any sugar or carbs.. I'm still on liquids so thinking that's the issue.
butterflyinwaiting 12 Posted May 27, 2014 I have had diarrhea every day as well. No pain or nausea or chills but I go a few times a day. I guess it's normal? I had my surgery May 20th and just started full liquids today.

angelface811 100 Posted May 28, 2014 I had surgery May 5th so I am 22 days out. Even though I am still not quite myself I am recovering at the speed my body is wanting to. My incisions are really starting to itch (but I dare not touch them) and my left side still has some burning pain but it has been explained. Anyone going to use mederma or Vitamin e bio-oil etc? My surgeon says there really is no scientific proof they work but once my scabs fall off I am welcome to put whatever I want on them. I still need to work on becoming more regular but graduating to the part of our new way of eating...it's not to big on Fiber initially but I'll get there. I am being super careful with my eating and drinking. I can't wait to graduate to soft foods but I will wait until day 30. All in all I have lost 24.2 pounds and I am in shock! I do not weigh myself everyday I weigh every 4 or more days. There sure is a lot to adapt to but all in all I think I am doing the best I possibly can. -----what are your updates? 1 Ozikiwi reacted to this
