yvimac1 21 Posted May 5, 2014 I am one more night away from surgery...May 5th. I am in Southern California and I have been pursuing the surgery since 2008. Can't believe I am actually a day away. My insurance and medical group required 32 weeks worth of classes and support groups. It was a 3 hour round trip at least once a week but I made it! I am having the bypass and will be kept for a minimum of 48 hours. I am so thankful for this site and to all of you who share your stories. Thanks to you all! Keep sharing and I hope we can continue to help one another through the ups and downs. God Bless You All... Best of luck to you! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. niasia33 40 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) Hi Everyone!! Day 4 of liquid diet almost done!!!! I have a 14 day pre-op diet. It's not that bad and I'm on total liquids with no food at all. I never thought I could do this but it's true that everyday it gets easier! Tomorrow I'll be in the single digits till surgery. I'm sooo excited but not nervous. For all those on your pre-op diets hold on and don't cheat your new life is just around the corner!!! Edited May 6, 2014 by niasia33
BariatricCeliac 33 Posted May 6, 2014 Today is day 1 of the pre-op diet. Oh my goodness, I am SO. HUNGRY. I keep telling myself it's for a good cause, but I can't stop thinking about being hungry. 1 Bfodal reacted to this
3btrflys 0 Posted May 7, 2014 My surgery is May 13th. I just ordered all my Vitamins through dietdirect.com and I also ordered biotin! I'm petrified about losing my hair, other than that I feel pretty good about the whole process. I am the 13th too!

Can you not drink any other liquids Water, fruit2O, crystal light, etc? To keep the brain occupied is the way I am going. If you do that maybe those hours in between your meal times won't seem as bad. Just a thought,
MommaD88 20 Posted May 7, 2014 Well I had my pre-op appointment and all is good to go on the 22nd. Yay! Maintained the exact same weight for the last month. The PA came in to talk with me and should looked at the wrong file and then my weight and thought I gained a load of weight then realized what she did after asked me what I did to myself. I was like huh? I'm pretty sure I'm the exact weight as last time, she looked again and was embarrassed and was like yeah you're good...lol whew had me sweatin' for a moment! Anyways, I start my diet on the 11th, some food with my liquids so that's good. On the 21st I will have Clear Liquids only and nothing after midnight. Surgery is not until 1:30 but I'm to be there a few hours earlier in case they can get me in a head of time. Got to visit the hospital part that day and there is a beautiful view of the Willis Tower (for all us Illinois people The Sears Tower..lol) I can't get use to that yet. The biggest obstacle I now have is my Vitamins. Went to Vitamin Shoppe and found a liquid "fruit punch" flavor multi Vitamin. Might as well call it "poo punch" because it smells, tastes, and looks horrible! I don't think I can bare to try again. It gave me a horrible after taste for hours. Burping it up was the worst. Ew! MissCindy 4 Posted May 8, 2014 Got my surgery date last week, May 19th. Don't have a time yet. My pre-op class is tomorrow. I have no idea what they will be covering. They sent a bunch of information in the mail regarding foods to eat on the pre-op diet and what to eat for the first 6 weeks post-op, from pure liquid the first two weeks to mush the 5th & 6th weeks. I only have a 3 day liquid diet before surgery, but my surgeon put me on a high Protein low carbohydrate diet when I saw her on April 15th. She wanted me to lose 10 pounds before surgery. I've lost 15 so far. I think I will be ok on the liquid diet as long as I keep my mind busy and don't dwell on what I can't have. I am going to be increasing my gym time this week and next since I won't be able to do my weight training for a few weeks after surgery. I can't believe it is less than two weeks away. I have been thinking about having this surgery for nearly 15 years. Ever since my husband had it done in Nov. 2009. Now it's almost here and I am excited, nervous, and scared. Is this really the right thing to do? But I know that I have tried everything else and I am still obese. I want my life back more than I am worried about the surgery and its long term consequences.
