Frisky 1,

The support groups are free and everyone is welcome. I go in Aurora on Sat. morn. and it is only 1 time a month. The help there is tremendous and I wouldn't miss one. Go and check it out! I hate when they are over. Give it a try! Kathy Let me know if you go!

I think we were in the same pre-op class of Dr. Johnell's!!!! I didn't realize you were scheduled for December yet! I'm not sure if you remember me, but didn't you come with your brother??

Hello Colorado Bandsters!

I am going to be moving to Colorado (Denver area) this May. Colorado is really home to me as I have lived there most of my life but have spent the last 2 years in Virginia. I am SO excited to be coming home!

I am also very concerned that I am going to have a difficult time finding a Doctor who will take over my care once I have moved. Things are going so well for me so far with this band and I want to keep going in the right direction. I have read that it is difficult to find a doctor who will take over the care of a patient who was banded by a different doctor. Does anyone know of any Colorado Doctors who might be willing?

If you cannot find a Dr in Denver, my surgeons are in Fort Collins.

Northern Colorado Surgical Associates

They are an awesome group of guys and their staff is wonderful. They will accept any patient.

best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
