what do you usually eat each day?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I am 2 months out from surgery and feel like I am making less than perfect choices with my eating. I am 'winging it' and since I have had 3 fills and not gotten to a sweet spot yet with my fills, I am maintining my weight I have kept off the 15 pounds I lost during my first 2 weeks but lost no more, despite exercise...)

Soooo- I wonder if any of you will be kind enough to share what you normally eat for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think if I get a better idea of exactly what others are eating on an average day it would help me formulate an eating plan.

:help:

Hi,

For Breakfast i usually have a small bowl of "raison nut bran" or similar Cereal with skim milk, a large cup of coffee with sugar free vanilla flavor and about 1/8 cup skim milk. For lunch i have a Protein Drink (myoplex vanilla) if i feel restricted or a south beach diet meal (sometimes i will have one of their breakfast burritos for lunch, minus some of the tortilla). For dinner i will have whatever i have made for the family for dinner in a much smaller amount, minus any bread. I do sip some Water with dinner but keep it less than 1/4 of a cup. If the meal comes with noodles or rice i will limit it to about 1/4 cup because it tends to swell in my pouch. I have been having an orange as a snack before bed. Between meals i drink lemon Propel and water.

If i go out to dinner, i have a small amount and take the rest home or split an entre' with my 110 lb daughter. (It's funny but at cheesecake factory we can split a meal and split a desert and still bring a lot of both home!)

I hope this helps!

Thatgirl, I'm sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time. Although I'm losing steadily, if I see the scale go up even 2/10 of a pound from one day to the next, I start to get panicked. I can only imagine how frustrated you must be.

For breakfast during the week, I usually eat a bowl of granola or bran cereal with 1 cup of 2% milk. If it's bran, I also add about 3 teaspoons of sugar. Breakfast on the weekends is pancakes (4 small ones with 1/4 c. maple Syrup and a little bit of butter). lunch at work is a Nutrisystem meal (comparable to a Lean Cuisine). lunch on weekends is usually scrambled eggs with parmesan cheese or some grilled ham and a small veggie, like zucchini. dinner is 3-6 oz. of Protein (shrimp cocktail, salmon, chicken breast, steak) and lots of vegetables (roasted red/yellow/orange bell peppers, asparagus, steamed artichoke, sautéed mushrooms, yellow squash, etc.). My boyfriend ordered a Papa John's pizza a few days ago, so for the past 3 nights, I've had 1 slice of pizza for dinner. I always have 1 or 2 Snacks during the day, like a banana or small apple or a Nutrisystem snack like vanilla wafers or a piece of biscotti. If I'm hungry at bedtime, I'll often have a glass of chocolate milk (2% milk with real Hershey's syrup).

I am consistently losing 2-3 lbs a week, and I am not exercising. I try to keep my 3 main meals between 200-250 calories and my Snacks around 100 calories. On average, I take in 800-1000 calories per day. I do try to keep it closer to 800 than 1000, though. I drink about 24 oz. of Water a day plus 24 oz. of diet Snapple Ice Tea.

Unlike a lot of other bandsters, I'm not fanatical about high-protein, low-carbs, and I don't avoid sugar. I have no desire to go into ketosis. Years ago, I did a liquid fasting diet, the goal of which was ketosis. I did not lose weight any faster in ketosis and was miserable the whole time. Felt like absolute crap. For me, sugar and breads are fine in small amounts.

What are you eating? What is a typical daily menu?

typical is oatmeal or slimfast for breakfast, chicken and rice for lunch, and usually whatever the family has for dinner - chicken breast and salad and a roll or chicken sandwich. I do snack, sometimes cheese or something (string cheese) but I have been bad about sweets between meals. :D Not nearly as bad as before the band, but not avoiding them like I should be.

I think the portions are what is killing me- I think I am keeping off the initial 15 or so pounds (15-18 off, I waver around) because I am exercising now and eating better foods (usually) but I think I am not losing any more because I am still eating too much... I hope that makes sense.

Regardless, I am obviously not where I should be on fills because I am hungry a lot and am not feeling full, even when I eat solids (I am trying to avoid mushies).

Effective tomorrow I am going to start journaling everything I eat.

Maybe you should consider eating something more solid for breakfast to make you feel full longer. I know a lot of people do the Protein drinks, but I stay away from liquid calories (with the exception of my chocolate milk once a week, which I recognize as an indulgence). You might want to try a Protein Bar or granola bar instead of the Slimfast.

I have a medifast ready to drink on my way to work each morning with a cup of tea. Watch that slimfast. It is about 50 cents cheaper then the medifast, BUT it is double the calories, half the prtein and 6 times the fat . Not kidding. Also the medifast has move Vitamins in it. Tastes better too (but not the powder ones, the ready to drink ones). I order them offf the web and put them in my fridge and off I go. lunch is leftovers from night before and dinner is whatever everyone else is having but much smaller. I have notice that for the last 2 weeks, i am eating about half (probably a bit less) of what I used to which is way too much. I think that is why I am at a plateau. I will get my first fill on April 13, so hopefully that will help. Also, i only started working out , I felt too tired before. I just joined the Water and excercise challange on here, so that will keep me going in the right direction too, I hope.:nervous

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
