How long before surgeon let you swim/hot tub?

Recommended Posts

Of course I will ask him Monday at my first post-op appointment, and follow what he says. But I miss my Aqua Zumba class (and the hot tub afterwards)!

I think 6 weeks, even if it is your own hot tub/pool it is quite awhile. But, considering it is not your own, it would have to be when your incisions are healed.

Six weeks. Don't worry, it will go by faster than you think. Not being able to get in the pool was one of the hardest things I went through in the beginning.

You will get instructions when you're released, but it's good to write down any questions you have and ask your doctor at your preop appointment.

I was allowed to shower on day 3. No immersion until all incisions were completely scab free. With my removal, I had one incision that weeped a bt for about 8 weeks, so no hot tub!

I don't know about swimming but I take a Jacuzzi every night and I had to stay out of it for 2 months. it was hell. it was the only thing I complained about when I saw the doctor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
