I was sleeved with a hiatal hernia, spent 24 hours in hospital, took one dose of pain med when I got home Tuesday at 3 pm, and Wednesday afternoon I drove to the grocery store. On Saturday I drove to the mall and walked around 3 hours. I took it slow, but I felt wonderful. I am 67.

WOW! I'm praying to have the same results minus the hernia. So happy for you!

I am feeling like a million dollars. Granted, I have some small issues, but I can breathe without gasping for breath (asthma-no symptoms now), off Metformin, off 1 BP med, the pain in my feet from terrible neuropathy disappeared (go figure that one). I learned to eat the veggies to help with the Constipation which is very common. Wishing everyone the best. Linda

Yeah LindafromFlorida! I had the same experience. Didn't really care for the flavor of the pain med and didn't ever really take it, so I drove at 3 days. The surgeon's main concern is that you don't drive under the influence of narcotic medication. On day 5 I drove myself to the gym, and one day 8 went back to work 1/2 time. My advice it to prepare for a little longer, tho, and then just rejoice if you bounce back quickly.

I could have driven the day after I got home, as long as I wasn't on pain meds. I was taking them for over a week after I got home, so I didn't drive for 2 weeks. Plus my dad had my car.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
