lmdx0sleeved 14 Posted March 21, 2014 Is it possible to go through this journey without Protein Shakes? I hate them. All of them.
newbegin 21 Posted March 21, 2014 I don't like them either, but it does get better. I am on week 9, my doc let me start Protein Bars week 6. I haven't fully converted yet, but have one shake and One Bar a day.
yodasplash 20 Posted March 21, 2014 I found some called "Beverly Hills Weight Loss & Wellness" Meal Replacements at a local health food store. They are better than anything else I've tried, including the unjury stuff. Unfortunately, this shop is the only place I've been able to find them, you might see if they could ship some to you. Here is their website: http://www.healthy-weight-supermarket.com.
Amanda121279 17 Posted March 21, 2014 I am really getting tired of them also. What brands does everyone like and what flavors? Any suggestions on doctoring them up? Still in full liquids phase
BeeLee37 109 Posted March 21, 2014 Unjury has a flavorless Protein Powder that you can put in anything liquid as long as it is not over 140 degrees. You can mix it with broth, coffee, tea, pudding, Jello, fruit juice ect..
Amanda121279 17 Posted March 21, 2014 does the Unjury unflavored have any taste to it at all? Does it change the taste of what you put in it?
lsuchick4 54 Posted March 21, 2014 unjury unflavored doesn't really have a taste but it does have the grit of Protein powder. I add it to yogurt for a boost. I like Atkins ready to drink shakes. And Syntrax nectar.
greensleeve 457 Posted March 21, 2014 I'm pre-op and Im going nuts. I just want to eat a piece of meat, even fish. Why can't we eat lean meat? Anyone know?
Clinton6 16 Posted March 22, 2014 Every Dr. is so different! I'm allowed chicken Breast on my Pre-Op diet. I'm also allowed peas, mashed potatoes, canned fruit & S.F Jello.
greensleeve 457 Posted March 22, 2014 I know, I don't want to break the rules but I feel like if I have another Protein Shake I'm going to puke. I'm starving and I can't sleep.
greensleeve 457 Posted March 22, 2014 I just had a super lite string cheese and a slice of thin deli turkey. It was amazing. Earlier I went to the grocery store to get more Protein Powder and I seriously felt like I was staring at the food like it was porn or something. Next time I'm sending my husband. greensleeve 457 Posted March 22, 2014 I saw these chocolate crisp things that look like Pringles and I picked it up and was thinking "oh my darling do you know what I would do to You, if only we could be together, imagine the possibilities."
yodasplash 20 Posted March 22, 2014 Does your Dr. allow for broths or leafy greens? My nutritionist said I'm allowed to have up to 4 lbs. of leafy greens. I don't think I've eaten that much salad in my entire life. I struggle with the constant sweetness of the shakes, but I've found that a beef or chicken broth, or a couple dill pickles (basically "healthy" salty options) helps reset my brain. The saltiness of the broth helps combat the "tired of sweet" feeling. The same with the pickles, only they have the bonus of giving me something to chew on. sugar-free gum also gives me something to chew on, which helps. Hang in there, from what others have said, this is the worst part..
Jmcp 14 Posted March 22, 2014 I'm pre-op and Im going nuts. I just want to eat a piece of meat, even fish. Why can't we eat lean meat? Anyone know? My pre op consists of two shakes a day and a lean Protein with salad for dinner. Different for everyone. 1 vsg_joanna reacted to this
