lapnicky 39 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) I'm almost six weeks post op and waking up very nauseated and it doesn't subside for about two hours after I wake up. Is this normal? How do I manage it? Will it eventually go away after a few weeks? Edited March 20, 2014 by lapnicky
Katcloudshepherd 630 Posted March 20, 2014 I was having a terrible time for a while. I would get up and get nauseated after drinking orange juice and taking my iorn pill. I was so light headed. Turns out DUH the OJ is too high in acid and once I took my iorn pill with water--I was ok. I was also lightheaded until I started taking that EXTRA iorn pill. I did this only after my primary care doc ran some blood work and found even with the bariatric iorn supplement I was taking--my iorn was still low. I don't know if this helps. It sounds like your nausea may be from something else. Take Care, Kathleen
MIMamaof2 30 Posted March 20, 2014 I found I was waking up nauseated and dizzy if I didn't make sure to have a Protein snack later in the evening.
Sassy Pants1 186 Posted March 20, 2014 Yes, I had this. And still do on occasion. To be honest, I never figured out why. I just thought it was part of the process. I take a Prilosec every morning and the nausea would subside shortly after.
gomekast 559 Posted March 20, 2014 I had this for the first 4 months. I was also told i had a slight stricture too. I would just sip on a shake until it subsided. Then i would have a bite to eat. But i certainly wasnt in any hurry to get past the mushy stage. I still naturally gravitate to either Protein bars or greek yogurt. Gotta take it day by day. Yesterday i couldnt tolerate liquids..today i cant tolerate my usual Decaf. It changes daily for me. I should also say this... My nurse was worried about my sleeve twisting on itself at my 3 month check up. But ive since doubled my dose of prilosec per her orders and i can eat just fine now. gomekast 559 Posted March 20, 2014 Also..some people have to take their prilosec at bedtime to combat the morning yucks. Just an idea.
