Im 4 years out from my surgery. Lost a total of 200lbs but have gained 40 back in the last year. I can tell in my energy level that its affecting me. I am going to start exercising more but could use some help on diet tips. I do feel hunger a lot and cant tell when Im full till its too late. Any tips would help.

I am only nine months out, but I will tell you I already wake up every morning fearing that I will be where you are. My advice to you would be to return to the basics. Are you tracking what you eat? If not MyFitnessPal.com is a free App that works really well. I would start there. Then start looking at what I call the 3 RNY Rules: How much Protein are you getting? My clinic recommends at least 80 grams a day, but never over 100 grams; Are you drinking enough Water? My clinic recommends 60 to 80 ounces a day; Are you drinking when you eat? I use to 30/30/30 rule, stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat, chew eat bite 30 times, and don't drink for 30 minutes after you are done eating. Finally, you mentioned low energy, make sure you are still taking all of your Vitamins.

Of course exercise is also important. However RNY is a tool, you still have that tool, you just have to start using it better. I would also encourage you to make an appointment with your clinic. They are there to help you. They can also do blood work to make sure that there isn't a physical reason you are gaining weight.

You are reaching out here, that's the first step. We are all here to help each other on this journey. You can get back on track!!

Excellent advice! I'm only a week out but I have those EXACT 3 rules hanging on my fridge and as the wallpaper on my cell phone lol. MyFitnessPal is a wonderful tool and I've been using it since before surgery. It's a great way to track EVERYTHING!

I also think we all fear we will end up down this road at some point. My mom is 12 years out from RNY. The most she has gained at any time is 20lbs. She always goes back to basics though to get motivated again. Protein, Water and exercise! She's kept 150lbs + off for so long!

We are all here for each other! You can do it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
