Recommended Posts

Hello, I am just curious as to what everyone else's portions size is I am at 1/2 cup and I am still hungry, drinking plenty of Water. I have 7.5 in my 10cc band. Just had fill yesterday and it has been 4 hours since I had some Breakfast and I am starving.

I have 6.5 CC in my band and I eat 5 ozs of meat and a cup of veggies and that keeps me full for about 4 to 5 hours. I know I'm not in the green zone yet but getting closer.

I eat 3-4oz of lean protien, 1/2 cup of veggies and 1 serving of starch if I still have room which typically I don't. If I do it's typically like a 1/2 slice of toasted wheat bread or 1/4 c brown rice etc. If I'm hungry in between meals which some times I am I eat a healthy snack like a greek yogurt or 1-2 oz of cheese or something around 100 calories. Hope this helps!

You're doing a great job! Congrats on your success!

I don't measure my portions. But, I've been doing this long enough to know how much to put on my plate. Any more than that and it's a leftover. Unless, it's really tasty, then I have to insert some self control.

I've been in maintenance now for about 1.5 years and I know that if I want to lose that last 35 lbs I'll have to reduce those portion sizes. So, once the weather here turns a solid bike riding weather, the portion sizes and/or Snacks will downsize/cease till I lose those 35 lbs.

I can go about 4 hours without feeling hunger. I allow myself an apple mid morning and another small snack around 3ish.

Jackie I was the same way I am one of those lapbanders that has to have quite a bit in my band to have the right restriction. I am at about 8 cc in my 10 cc band and finally have the right satiety when eating. I eat about 1/2-3/4 c and am good for about 4-5 hours. According to my dr.'s office it is perfect. They don't want you to go to long without eating because you need to be able to get the majority if not all Protein through your diet. The green zone is an elusive little stinker for sure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
