lapbandliz 0 Posted April 3, 2007 What am I doing wrong? I'm getting so frustrated! I'm eating less than 1200 calories a day. I'm staying fairly active. I have not lost any weight in over a month! It seems like the only weight I lost was the 8 pounds before the lap band and then the 17 in the first 3 weeks after surgery. Now I have just stopped since about March 12. What can I do? I'm so upset!!!! I wanted this to work so badly. Why isn't the weight coming off?:think
teacher 1 Posted April 3, 2007 I'm in the same boat. I'm so frustrated!!! I'm considering going on a liquid diet to try to jumpstart something. I lost 23 pounds after surgery..in the first 2 weeks and 3 since. Today I'm up 3. ARGHHHH! I'm watching for responses to help Dixiecharm and myself out today!!! kim2bhealthy 3 Posted April 3, 2007 Looks like you guys are newly banded? The first fill is when you should start losing more weight. Are you eating enough solid Protein? Drinking Water? Are you hungry in-between meals? Are you exercising at least 30 minutes a day? It may take several fills or adjustments to find your sweet spot. If you are still in the healing phase, you aren't expected to lose! Things change when you start getting fills and get restriction! Good luck and please don't get discouraged! It will happen! prbrooksie 1 Posted April 3, 2007 I am not losing very fast either and haven't for weeks. I know why! I haven't been strict. I sneak in a cookie and then a handful of crackers or a Reece Peanut Butter cup from the grocery store. I've been walking a few times a week, but I could do better. After 2 slim fast drinks I am still craving something sweet....I just got done eating a handful of Cheez-its. Now I want something sweet, but I have a golf ball stuck in my throat from the Cheez-its...so maybe it will stop me from the candy bar I'm dreaming about...LOL. I have to face this everyday. I am getting better than I was and it will take me longer to lose weight than when I was in my 20's. It is crazy HARD!
juliegeraci 7 Posted April 3, 2007 It sounds like you may need a fill. How is your restriction level?
prbrooksie 1 Posted April 3, 2007 It sounds like you may need a fill. How is your restriction level? If you talking about prbrooksie (me)...I have restriction..I'm just in love with food. I am fat because of my love. I also get bored too. I have a seriously boring job. On the weekends...I hardly eat. In fact, I've noticed that I lose weight better of a weekends than the week. TracyinKS 7 Posted April 3, 2007 One thing you could try is chosing more Low Carb choices.. I know FOR ME, if I ate 1200 calories but all of them were carbs I would GAIN. I don't know what your eating or if your getting all your Water and Protein in...
beachgirl 2 Posted April 3, 2007 I went for 2 months without losing after losing 60 pounds the first 5 months. My surgeon told me to try 900 calories a day, 1 gallon of Water per day, 80 g Protein per day, 120 carbs per day and exercise and now in the past 2 weeks I've lost 10 pounds. You might could give that a try and see if it helps, it sure did me.
prbrooksie 1 Posted April 3, 2007 One big problem I see with your food routine is Slim Fast. That stuff is loaded with sugar and sugar will not only make you hungry but it will also make you crave more sugar. If you really enjoy sweets I would seriously encourage you to try Matrix Cookies & Cream Protein mix. I've lost my sweet tooth since banding and it is just too sweet for me, I can't take it. If you like Krispy Cream donuts you'll like this stuff. If you like Duncan Donuts you'll like the chocolate flavor instead. The chocolate flavor (made with 6-7oz Water vs. a full 8oz) tastes like Chocolate Milk. Chocolate 120cal 22gms Protein Cookies & Cream 130 cal 23gms protein The protein will kill your hunger and the lack of sugar will stop the insulin spikes and cravings for more sugar. The Chocolate/sweet flavor will satisfy your candy cravings. After drinking Matrix all the other Protein shakes are gross to me. Cheapest places I have found it is here: http://www.allstarhealth.com/f/syntrax-matrix_50_sustained_release_protein.htm Shipping is fast, customer service is great. If you don't like it, return it for a refund. Shipping is $5-$6 regardless of how much product you buy. So buy both flavors and if you don't like one or the other, return them. I've seen it on ebay for a couple of dollars less but you can't always return it from an ebay seller. I *think* (haven't calculated it in a long time) that per serving and including S&H, it comes out to about $0.50/serving. How does that compare to Slim Fast? Thanks...I thought the Slim Fast Low Carb was low...they actually don't have more than 6 carbs...not a lot sugar in them, but the ones you are recommending only have 3...I"ll get some. Thanks. Daisalana 33 Posted April 3, 2007 Hm.. got me second guessing my Matrix flavor decision! I saw someone mention it on another thread and ordered the orange cream/dreamsykle whatever. It had a lot of flavors, and from past experience with diet/protein shakes, the chocolate is always chalky, the vanilla makes me gag.. so all the chocolate or Cookies & cream, I envisioned mixtures of the two.. I went with orange cream to spice it up.. but I love me some Dunkin Donuts.. might have to get the chocolate now!
purposedriven4 1 Posted April 4, 2007 hi all i don't konw but my doctor tol me to cut out all l liquid Proteins. i have been losing very slowly and he asked what i had been dowing and he said no Liquid Protein. he said replace it with Protein Bars. something solid
purposedriven4 1 Posted April 4, 2007 I understand your doc's thinking about liquid Protein but the problem is the Protein Bars are packed with sugar, carbs, and calories. How is your restriction? i just got my second fill today. i am pretty restricted. he also doesn't put me on liquids after a restriction. i am thinking about doing the master cleanse. i have been reading the book and i have a lot of toxins and waste to rid my body of.
