Reliable set of Scales recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a brand of reliable scales? I have a digital set made by Thinner that I got from Avon years ago and even though it's gone through several 9-Volt batteries, it still works but if I step on that scale 10 times in the morning, I swear I'll get 7 different readings. A difference of -/+ 2.0 pounds can mean discouragement or encouragement so it actually matters.

I use my bariatric center's scale because it is calibrated and I know it will always be accurate. Have you considered going to a doctor's office to weigh yourself?

Great question. I have the same problem. I threw out my old scales and bought new digital scales by Weight Watchers. These were not cheap scales by any means, but they are not accurate at all. I can step on the scales and see a difference of 6 pounds in the same day. I is depressing. I know weight is just a number on the scale but I would like to be able to track my progress through this journey. I am seeing progress through my wardrobe as my pants are falling off of me. If anyone can suggest an affordable and accurate scale I would be interested.

I would have gladly recommended mine, but today I got pissed at it and smashed it to smithereens.

Third one this month................. :(

I hate the WW one. Was not worth the money. I went out and bought another (Thurman - I thin???) which has all these bells ans whistles and weight 3-4 pounds lighter than the WW. However, it defaults to kilos EVERY time. Drives me nuts. I programmed it for pounds but it keeps going back to kilos. I've just given up and started converting the kilos to pounds each morning. Luckily, it's one of the few calculations I remember and use from nursing school! I'm not buying another. I'll just have to deal with it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
