How long before you started working out?

Recommended Posts

I'm two weeks out and it's getting warm out so I'm ready to get out and move around. But my stomach muscles are still so sore if I stand up or move around too long.

I managed half a mile at the park a few days ago but it took me 15 minutes. Meanwhile my husband did 2 miles in just over 20 minutes. I know it's going to take a long time, but I'm eager to catch up with him.

I only walked around my neighborhood for about a month. My largest incision hurt/burned when I walked for that long. About a month post op I started riding my bike every night until it got too cold outside. I joined a gym at 4 months post op and I now go about 4 times per week.

Don't rush it and don't compare yourself to others. Listen to your body and increase your exercise at your own pace.

Walking is good for you at this point.

If you are talking about going back into the gym it took my a month before i could go back and slowly work back into my routine.

It all depends on what you do at the gym and what your doctor says you are allowed to do and how fast.

I know I had weight restrictions of how much I could lift.

Good luck and feel good.

I started walking 15 hours after surgery. I walked around my neighborhood every day, twice a day. At one point I saw a snail pass me. J/K. My point: take it easy and ease into it. I was cleared to work out and swim at the 10 week mark. I also hired a trainer and together we kick butt!! My body fat percentage keeps dropping every month. Best of luck!!!

I walked or the first six weeks - I got up to 3 miles/day. After that, I got back to Pilates and the elliptical at the gym. Going back to Pilates was rough since I was used to have strong abs and didn't have them anymore. It's good now, though.

I started walking 2-3 miles a day about 5 days after surgery. It's really better to start doing that as soon as you're done with surgery, but I was lazy the first few days, and fairly miserable, and walking helped. I wish I had started sooner.

I was back to running 3 miles within 5 weeks- as soon as I could jog without feeling like I was pulling on my stitches- and I was back in MMA class within 5 weeks.

It's now been 6 months and I usually run about 3 miles a day, I bike about 10-15 miles a week (which isn't much but it makes me feel happy) and I do an MMA and jiu jitsu class 3-5 nights a week.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
