Hello Everyone! I am due to get the sleeve next Tuesday, March 25th. Up until the pre-op class I was absolutely fine and excited, NOW, I'm having crazy anxiety! I know this is what is best for me and trust that my surgeon knows what he's doing but I constantly have a person or two say "Are you sure? Why take the easy way out? Why not diet and exercise?"

I've been thinking about this for over 2 years and finally decided to pull the trigger the day after Christmas 2013. So I really don't think I am jumping the gun on this one. I know I shouldn't let the nay-Sayers get the best of me but it's difficult. I hope to find more positive vibes and posts thru this forum because I am ready for the new healthier me!

Do not be nervous! This is just a tool! The diet and exercise is going to be even more challenging than if u chose that route because no one else is going to understand how hard you're going to have to work to eat correctly and take your meds etc. But it is totally going to be worth it!

Dobt let anyone tell you you're taking the easy way out because it's not easy, it's just what some of us need. We've been fighting with this disease our whole lives Don't we deserve this?!

I am 11 days post op and the first week was rough but today I am so grateful I did this! I have been heavy set My entire life even as a kid and I have always been a VERY active person. Sports gyms etc never really ate Truely horrible, on occasion yes we all do, but I think it was just in my genes.

This is going to be worth it! And if you ever have a doubt, get on here and talk to other people! This is the best support forum I've found everyone is so supportive. We want to hear all about it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
