Keeping it simple

Recommended Posts

Since I have been back on solid foods I have been keeping my meals very simple. Mainly because I have not wanted anything else. i see alot of people talking about complicated recipes (which is fine), but I really dont care much bout what I am eating.

An average day for me consists of 2 eggs for Breakfast, usually fried(using pam spray) lunch 4ish ozs of turkey, chicken, tuna, and for dinner somewhat the same as lunch with maybe a small portion of veggies. In between I may have a greek yogurt, Protein shake or some beef Jerky.

I actually love that it is this simple and I hope I can keep on the same track indefinitely.

Anyone else having the same experience??

I hear ya Bob. I have been eating pretty good but some would probably call it boring. I found trying to cook some little 2.5 ounce piece of fish or meat resulted in inedible waste. So I cook up a large piece or pieces and then cut it into smaller portions and vacuum seal and put it in the fridge or freeze it. Then I nuke it for the next 5 or six meals. So what if I eat it for several days.

I'm just not that big on complicated recipes and the like when it's a measly 3 ounces total. Doesn't bother me as I'm just about getting in enough Protein and basics anyway. Sure variety is good, but it's a nuisance when your not a gourmet cook.

Even shopping for groceries is a pain. Takes me three times as long cause I end up reading every single label and putting most of the stuff back. Amazes me too how the food that has everything removed or is healthy, costs' twice as much.

I just try to keep it quick and simple. So I stick with the tried and true. ^_^

i'm not much of a cook either :( - gourmet??? are you kidding me?

little "sidebar" story

was going to buy a lovely 4 burner stop top

decided to buy the five burner one instead

i told my DH that "now i can boil 5 pots of Water at the same time"

I know i must "spread my wings ;) " and experiment/eat other foods

me/you/we can't afford to get sooooooo bored, get upset, start eating stuff that we shouldn't

No worries Kathy. I posted this in the Mens forum only because a good portion of the ladies seem to be preoccupied with variety. I was looking to see if it was just a guy thing with keeping it boring and simple.

On a side note, Jenny-O and Boars Head seems to get a majority of my shopping money. The Jenny-o turkey sausage or patties on my forman grill when I feel like cooking and boarshead sliced turkey, ham and a occasional slice or 2 of liverwurst when I am on the go is as satisfying as I need.

I usually stick to the same things each day, but have been trying to add some variety. Supper usually ends up with left overs and I take some of it for lunch the next day, but I'm happy with:

- Protein shake in the morning

- Greek Yogurt for a snack

- lunch is some dense Protein and veggies or a small salad

- Protein Bar for snack

- Dense protein and veggies for supper

I'll mix it up and sometimes get a piece of fruit in here or there, but that's pretty much it for me. I do try to do Cereal in the morning once a week with some banana
