lapnicky 39 Posted March 18, 2014 I'm five weeks post op and have an annoying problem. After surgery I've noticed when I sleep I wake up with body shivers and chills. Almost like the feeling you get after your in shock or come out of surgery. It's very annoying because its interrupting my sleep patterns. No fever, just chills, and shivers. It's only when I sleep .. I was wondering if anyone else does this? What's causing it? Hmmm..
Iambeautiful 100 Posted March 18, 2014 I am so glad that you shared this. I feel cold all the time and I do not have a fever. It's been unseasonably cold here in the midwest but even when it's warmer out , I wake up feeling cold.... I never minded the cold weather so much but now it really bothers me and I use my space heater in my room to warm up. I guess it's a stress reaction to surgery and our body is adjusting to all the changes going on in our bodies. I am feeling chilled now and everyone else seems comfortable as it's a really nice day today but windy. I guess that too will pass in time. I'm only three weeks out from surgery now and still in the healing stage. I had terrible chills when i was in the hospital. Another side effect of surgery that no one can warn you about except for others that have gone through it I suppose! I'm five weeks post op and have an annoying problem. CBF1000 13 Posted March 18, 2014 I know when I did the lighter life shakes, one of the side effects with it being low carb and low calorie; was that it made you feel cold. I think its just a side effect of eating especially low calorie intake at this time

Roo101769 742 Posted March 18, 2014 I did not wake up from chills, but early on I did get chilled MUCH easier. It all ties into rapid weight loss/ deficiency in certain areas of diet/ body reaction after major surgery etc. I think it started to subside a bit a month ago, so about 4 months out. I still do not get as hot as I used to, and I do get chilled a bit easier, but the extreme cold has seemed to pass.

Seela 1,187 Posted March 19, 2014 I used to always be sweaty and hot. After surgery I got cold very easily. Now at 5 months out it's not as severe but I had to shop for a sweater and a coat... haven't had one of those in 10 years.
