How is your Port area post surgery?.

Recommended Posts

Am felling great, very little pain, with the exception of my port removal area. It still looks like it's there, NP says its bood that will eventually disappear. I must say the pain & discomfort of my port area is the worst of it.

The good news is I no longer have pain in middle of my ribs from the band, it was unfilled for the last year but still hurt.

im 6 wks post op now & that port incision is the last to heal, it still have a bit of scabbing. I would be absolutely pain free were it not for the occasional pulling/tugging in my port area.

I'm only 5 days out and my port scar is definitely the worst of the pain. I apparently had a lot of scar tissue that had to be removed, so that could be the problem. I can see it being the last thing to heal for me. It is pretty firm as if my port is still there, and is sore to the touch unlike my other incisions. My port incision was the last to heal from my band surgery too, so it might just be the nature of the beast.

I'm approaching my 1 year on May 8th. I still have a small knot in the port area. Looks and feels like I still have a port, and the more weight I drop the more visible it is. I'm going to talk to the plastic surgeon tomorrow about removing it when they do my lower body lift.

I'm 9 mtths out and still feel like I have a port. Still a knot there (not quite as big but there's scar tissue there) and still aches from time to time. Not sure if the scar tissue hurts or I'm having "phantom port pain"

Yesterday it was very itchy. Guess Id better get used to it

I had my 6 week post op with my surgeon yesterday & I asked many questions about my port area. He said the port is fairly big, hence the larger incision. In my case he used the same incision to remove my stomach since it was large enough. He also said while the body fluids etc that fills in the area after port is removed will eventually disappear....we get scar tissue & may feel occasional pulling from the scar tissue as time passes.

My port area was very bothersome for a couple of weeks after the band removal. There was a hole where it used to be that filled with Fluid and that took awhile to all rearrange. It did go away though!

My port took a little while to stop hurting. I had the worse burning tugging feeling but then one day I didn't feel it again .. I think it was around week 4 or 5 post op! I'm sooo glad that thing is gone! I got my band in 2008 and it flipped in 2011 so I had to go back thru surgery and since then.. My band wasn't right , it hurt and I gained all my weight back. I had my revision from band to sleeve on March 6th and I no longer have pain.. But getting back to the port area... After around the 5-6 week it will be just fine!

I will be 1 year post revision in early May, and still have a port. I just had my plastics consult and the surgeon asked me if my port was left in place. I told him no, but the bariatric surgeon explained that they had to "dig" it out of the scar tissue that had enveloped it. He is going to try to remove all the knot when/if I get my tummy tuck/thigh lift. I guess we will see what happens.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
