How often do you weigh yourself?

Recommended Posts

Every morning sometimes I'll wait an extra day if I've eaten late.

I weigh myself at least twice a day. Again, like others it helps me to be accountable to myself. If I notice a fluctuation then I know perhaps I DO need to drink more Water and just exercise me. It is not an obsession but like my Fitness Pal app. It is just something I have to keep track of.

I am only 6 weeks out and I have hit a stall. I am down 26 lbs and I have to step it up in the exercise dept and walk more and drink more. I signed up for this so it is my job to do it right.

Good luck to everyone and as long as what you are doing is working for you then you are doing a GREAT JOB!

Once a week. That way I don't get too into the numbers. I was sleeved on May 1, 2013. I was 310 and I am now 175. Keep up the good work guys but don't always look at the numbers. Look at your size, I was 3x 24-26 I am down to 12-14.

Every morning after I pee :) Don't stress if numbers don't move, I know stalls happen but I'm ecstatic about where my numbers are from where they've been.

Every morning - naked and after I pee. It keeps me focused for now.

Once a day...first thing in the morning.. preferably in my birthday suit...after I use the bathroom. The reason why I do this is so that I can see if what I've eaten the day before causes a gain/loss..etc. If the scale doesn't move.. and there have been quite a few days when it hasn't, I don't get discouraged or whatever I just keep pushing. I know that eventually once my body "levels" off the weight will start coming off again.

I used to weigh daily--especially in the early days post-op. I wanted to see that scale MOVE in the right direction for once! Then I realized I was becoming obsessive and making myself miserable, so I changed it to weekly. Each Saturday morning, after a shower and before Breakfast.

Pretty soon I noticed that even that was making me obsess--I would get anxious as Saturday approached, and get totally discouraged if the scale didn't do what I was hoping for (either not move, or not move ENOUGH).

Now I have almost stopped weighing entirely. I do get on the scale a couple times a month, but mainly I'm using my clothing to judge how things are going.

Also, now that I'm 6+ months post-op, the "honeymoon" has ended. Just as my surgeon predicted, my weight loss has gradually slowed down to the point that weighing too often will just leave me feeling frustrated, and like a failure. I'm definitely not a failure, I'm just losing around half a pound a week, with stalls and starts here and there, like many people post-sleeve! I'm losing weight "like a skinny girl", which means I have to fight for every ounce, watch my carb intake, and increase my movement if I want to eat more calories.

Bottom line for me: the scale no longer controls me, and I'm happy!

Weighed 3-4 times a week for the first 2 weeks post-op then decided to weigh once a week. I can become...obsessed with the numbers :) I decided to change the frequency when I realized the obsession could get to a point that it overshadowed the overall feeling I have that I am doing well, the weight is coming off, and to get back to living in the present. I track my food on Myfitnesspal and that is developing into a very nice habit to keep me accountable.

once a day...first thing in the morning...I'm afraid my family has done this our entire lives, even @ our heaviest & @ our skinniest.

I'm 12 days pre op, but my Dr. told me to weigh daily so I can see how certain foods affect me and my weight. I plan to be on the scale at least twice a day. Lol

Depends. I know my own crazy. If I'm close to a goal its everyday to stay in check but if I'm not its once or twice a week. If I get obsessive I stay away. If its a tool for scientific measurement then daily.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
