Wonderful Disappointment

Recommended Posts

Hello All

To cut a very long story short;

My surgery was performed on the 20th Feb 2014 and I was to have a Gastric Bypass. My surgeon found issues which would prevent the Bypass, therefore he chose to perform a Sleeve instead...I was devastated when I found out, so disappointed!

Now, I am over the moon, i love my sleeve! I am 47 lbs down - long way to go, but bring it on.

Good luck to you all.

Nobby

I was sleeved on the 24th of Feb. I am so sorry you had such a big change at the last second and didn't know until after surgery. I am glad you are happy with the results though. Best wishes!

47 pounds in a little over 3 weeks is amazing. I am jealous. I have only lost 8 pounds in 13 days. Congratulations on your success.

Thank you so much for your kind, supportive words. We are ALL doing tremendously well!!

A little update;

My weight loss has stalled a little, but I am not overly concerned. I feel great and my mobility, stamina and general labido are hugely improved. I like the new me...although the new me does not have too many clothes that fit correctly...but that's a nice problem, right?

I am flying back to the UK in early June, to attend a family wedding. My goal is to wear a suit that I have had hanging in the wardrobe fo the last 6 or 7 years, a suit I thought I would never wear again.

There you go, that's my new target; I'll post a picture of my wearing my target Suit before I leave fo the UK. Watch this space.

Good luck and God bless

Nobby

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
