The Absolute, Can't Be Overstated, Importance of the Pre-Op Diet!

I'm one week post op and I couldn't be doing any better. My Nutritionist and Nurse Practictioner say it is all due to my success on the pre-op diet.

Let me tell you my experience. I had my surgery (sleeve) Monday 3/10 about 11:00 AM. I was heading home by 3:00 PM. I was given Vicodin pills for the pain and I could take 1 or 2 every 4 hours. I took 1 every 4 hours until Tuesday night. Wednesday morning I took a dose of Aleve and I haven't had any pain meds since. I also haven't had any nausea or any trouble taking in liquids. In short, with the exception of being tired from the anesthesia, I almost didn't believe I'd had major surgery!

I lost 20 pounds on a two week pre-op diet. My medical team says that has made all the difference. They are not surprised by these results. They said the diet shrinks your liver by forcing it to give up its glycogen stores and that makes the surgery much, much easier for the doctor.

I'm so happy for you that everything has been textbook and so easy for you. I had a similar experience but there are a lot of people on here who did everything right and weren't so lucky. Keep following your plan and you'll have great success. Check with your surgeon about the Aleve though... most surgeons say NO nsaids ever
