How long did you wait to try chili?

I'm not sure if people have heard of tajin I use to love putting that on my fruit and I want some. But I'm scared to try it.

It's chili powder with lemon. It's not really spicy.

I tried chili (blended) very early out with no problems. Just try a little to make sure it's well tolerated and only if you're far enough along in your program

I tried canned chili (Hormel) about two months post-op and didn't tolerate it well at all.

Tried Wendy's chilli about a month later and it was great, no issues! Still get it every now and then, when weather is cool.

I'm a little over 10 months post-op and eat anything I want now, albeit much less quantity...which is a good thing! Ate crawfish yesterday, for the first time since my surgery. It was hot/spicy and tasted great! No issues with the spices. :D

Good luck!

I think you will be fine. I had shredded buffalo chicken when I turned 4 weeks and had no problems and I never stopped using spices once I started my puréed stage.

at the pureed stage I used tajin on my cottage cheese, it was the only way I could get it down. I had no issues at all, and I was about 3 weeks out.

Chili is my staple food, I don't remember how soon I stated eating it. I like it spicy w/lots of flavor so I routinely add hot salsa or chopped jalapeño's to it. I also love spicy humus (I eat it w/a spoon). I've never had any trouble w/ spicy foods. It packs a lot of flavor in a little bit food. :-)

once I could eat normal foods post op I ate wolf brand chili with shredded cheese melted on it.. then I started eating Wendy's chili, Chic Filet chicken tortilla Soup and diet lemonade .. sometimes I can get chicken nuggets but the grilled are too dry for me.

I haven't tried any restaurant chili, but I have made my own and have had no problem...I am a little over 8 weeks out and like mine spicy as well and with oyster crackers and enjoyed a small bowl two days in a row. Didn't even do the puree stage stuff...grossed me out...LOLRH!!! So when I was able I did go ahead and made some and tried it with a back-up food in reserve just in case! It stayed down with no problem. Some can tolerant certain foods while others can't-hope you can enjoy chili though...really good Protein food. Best wishes!!!

I am three months out and ate my first crawfish last week, I could have cared less about the 5 buck a pound price tag bc all I could eat was 9 crawfish shy of a pound

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
