I'll never regret my decision to have had the sleeve. I'm 70 pounds lighter than my highest weight. I still have a ways to go but my diabetes is gone, I'm off my blood pressure meds, no more chest pains or shortness of breath, and just feel so much better overall! The sleeve has been helping me stick to the plan and I know that I will reach my goals because of this amazing tool. Good luck!

Absolutely NOT! It was the best thing I ever did! Friday is the first day of the rest of your life. I had my surgery on Dec and I'm down over 50 pds and 3 pant sizes . I feel the best I have felt in years . It's amazing to me how much energy I have. The first 3 weeks are the hardest and then it gets easy every day after that. Good luck and just be positive. Keep us posted .

My sleeve is scheduled for this Friday. I was wondering if anyone regrets having their surgery?

Zero regrets! :D Hit my goal weight a few months ago and haven't looked back!

Just follow doc's orders, do not rush the process (follow the timelines for liquids, pureed, mushy, etc. and get moving as much as possible) and look to this site for just about any question(s) you may have.

You are in for one heck of an awesome journey!

Godspeed for a quick recovery! :)

None. In fact I'm a little sad that it's over! But I am so excited about my new life. My 2nd chance to do it right. You will do great. Good luck!

Immediately after surgery I thought I had ruined my life. It took a few weeks to feel mostly normal again and then a few months to get to a point where I almost never get sick when I eat something (I now know the limits and it's a habit). I am a little 6 months post-op and I have lost 60 pounds. I still have about 50 to go, but it's not this insurmountable challenge anymore. I can eat what I want to, in smaller portions, and I rarely get hungry. I still think back to right after my surgery and about how sure I had made the worst decision ever and how now I am completely fine. In short, no, I don't regret my surgery at all now, but wow, I was regretting it right afterward!

Good luck in surgery and remember that a few weeks and months from now you will feel SO much better than you do at the moment!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
