Lost Momentum....help!

Recommended Posts

I've been in a program since last July. Lost more than I needed to. In December had decided against a procedure gained 10#.Re-entered in January, in 10 days I meet my surgeon.

Has anyone else "played" around with their food, while waiting for a date? I can't seem to get on the straight & narrow. Everyday I battle with what I will & won't eat. Will it always be this way?

I did. This is a crazy issue. After surgery it was so much easier. I had a plan to follow and was so "done" being crazy with food that it was easy to stay on my surgeon's prescribed plan. Now I'm almost 8 months out and battling the cravings. I'm certainly not hungry like before and I have great restriction.

I'm so much better than before surgery. You can do this. Just know that it may get a whole lot better after the surgery is done.

Just wondering if you've had the surgery and how you are doing...

Biggirlpanties,

I had my surgery June 23. I'm doing ok. I had one incidence of dehydration that was rectified by a trip to the ER for fluids.

I began getting serious in April and since the middle of May I've lost 62#, not too shabby!

I'm so glad that I had the surgery. It's amazing to me that my hip & back pain have dramatically lessened & I'm able to walk almost 30 mins without crying due to my pain!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
