2 more days to surgery

Recommended Posts

So this weekend, I was talking to my boyfriend, and we were talking about the surgery, and I told him how this was going to change not just my life but both our lives, cause when it comes to the weekends and we do date nights, we aren't going to be able to just go out to eat and pick whatever to eat. I told him for a while I probably wouldn't be able to go out to eat, and the loving man that he is, said that's ok, we can do other things on date nights, we can go to the movies, or we can can go do something that is fun but a workout too. I love him so much he is such a great guy. Although I was also thinking how hard it's going to be on me. I am not going to lie, I didn't get the way I am cause I ate healthy, I love food, and it sort of makes me nervous that I won't be able to eat a lot of things for a very long time if ever again. I mean I have been on this liquid diet now since the 5th and I feel good, but this weekend was a hard test for me, I had my sons birthday party, and we had pizza for it, and it smelled so good, I just wanted one piece, but I was good, I had my shake and I did what I was supposed to, but then we got home and there was so much pizza and cake still left over and I wanted so badly to eat something and I had to keep reminding myself why I am doing this. So by sunday night I was craving something and I so what I did was I ate a couple peanuts that are in the shell, and i made sure I chewed them so much that it was mush by the time I swallowed. Does anyone else feel this way, or did feel this way this close to surgery day??? Please let me know.

I understand completely. I'm having my RNY tomorrow, Friday my family ordered pizza and it smelled so darn good. I fixed up my shake and hid in the bedroom for a bit until they were done and had everything cleaned up in the kitchen. So far that was the only food that really had me on edge, but I was determined not to eat it. For me it was like a personal triumph and I felt good to have faced that demon and won. You'll do fine, stay focused and positive.

Thanks SugarFreeMe, I am really working hard to not eat any of that stuff, and so far I have done great, but just the smells they are a whole new sense it feels like and I am just like oh give me some. LOL, I didn't do it though!!! I am very proud of myself how I have pushed myself to conquer this so far. My boyfriend wanted Burger King yesterday and so on the way home I swang through and grabbed it for him and OMG, the smell of it made my mouth Water, and when I got home he asked if I would like a french fry and I said nope I am not doing it. He feels bad that he is there eating it while I am there and can't touch it, but I told him don't feel bad it's just making me stronger. So Thanks and good luck tomorrow!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
