AmyV 82 Posted March 17, 2014 The pain on my left side at the upper incision is now at the point that I'm unable to sit up or bend without cringing in pain. It even hurts when I apply pressure to urinate. I saw physicians assistant on Friday and they said it's just the healing process of the muscle and wound where the stomach was pulled out and I may have re-injured it. But this is becoming steady enough that I'm needing help to do simple things, and I'm 3 weeks out Wednesday. Anyone else experience this? Trying to decide if I call dr office back and get "brushed off" or take more urgent action by going to ER??
DirtyHarriett 94 Posted March 17, 2014 Mine hurt about that long, but never that bad consistently. I'd have it checked again.
hopeful2 be slim 121 Posted March 17, 2014 we get pain only if we have strained the sleeve...did you sleeve in a wrong position or did you lift anything or did you exercise? it takes almost 3 months to heal completely. Better to get it checked properly. Have they given you any pain killers? try complete rest,,,but pain while urinating is because of dehydration. drink more Water. Trying to decide if I call dr office back and get "brushed off" or take more urgent action by going to ER?? Amy, I've been having this problem all weekend. I was getting better than I developed a cold/cough and have been sneezing and coughing all week. Saturday morning I got up and couldn't even walk to the bathroom without crying. I took the whole weekend to lay in bed and I'm feeling much better today. It still hurts depending on how I lay or sit but it sucks!! I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow
tarak421 2 Posted March 18, 2014 I had the same problem, went back to the dr. and she said it was a pulled muscle. She gave me a refill on my pain meds but told me to start walking as well. I am still in pain but am walking every evening and hoping that it gets better. I am also trying to make sure I get in all my Water and most of my Protein. If it doesn't get better, you should see your dr again. Hope this helps.
Sarahjane79 397 Posted March 18, 2014 I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow, and I'm still using the pain meds fairly often for pain in my bigger incision. I've asked my doc and the nurses there 3 times and my pcp, and they all tell me it's normal. I also pulled at my internal suture/ripped the healing muscles just over a week out when putting my boots on, so I think for me it's another reason I still hurt. Getting up hurts like a mf'er 99% of the time.
AmyV 82 Posted March 18, 2014 At ER, just had abdominal CT scan. Pain got so severe I couldn't take a deep breath. Surgeon is checking for leak. I've been on liquids for 3 weeks. Last Sunday my son complained his chicken tasted funny and I (without thinking) took a bite. I hope this isn't because of that!

AmyV 82 Posted March 19, 2014 Well they've done a CT scan and upper GI and tons of blood work and they haven't found anything wrong. That's the good news. The bad news is they haven't found anything wrong... Surgeon is keeping me overnight for observation and pain management.

Hope you feel better soon!

AmyV 82 Posted March 20, 2014 Still in hospital. Surgeon is stumped. Tomorrow I'll see a pain management specialist and then get to go home. They think it could be a nerve near the larger incision site and when I move a certain way it pinched the nerve. If this is the case I'm unsure how that affects me long term. The pain today was reduced significantly, I could at least lie still and not feel it. But trying to get out of bed, sit down, cough or laugh sent me into around of excruciating pain. We will see what tomorrow holds. Thank you so much for asking!!
sizzsooz 38 Posted March 20, 2014 I don't know, maybe this is so off base but I thought I read on here somewhere about tight stitches and the sufferers had to wait 5 weeks for the stitches to pop? I'll try to find the thread for you.
AmyV 82 Posted March 20, 2014 Insurance wants me out today. Love how they have never met me and have no clue the pain I'm in with no solution but they still want me out. I just want a solution before I go home. Pain has minimized to a central area below my largest scar on the left. But standing and sitting are still painful without help. Waiting for pain management doctor.
