I'm so hungry and frustrated and I just wish I could have my stomach back and go eat dinner with my family :'(

Please tell me this gets easier.

It WILL get easier with time, but while ur on liquids - IT'S VERY HARD. I was on liquids for 4 weeks and I had buyers remorse also. Wish I woulda left my slipped lapband in (not possible but I thought it).

I thought I'd literally starve. I started getting hungry on day 10. The "Hunger Hormone" removal on me didn't work as planned.

But it got much better when I was able to eat soft foods. Much better. Now 7 mths later I wouldn't trade my sleeve for a million bucks (well, maybe for a million! LOL)

Good luck! How much longer r u on liquds?

It gets a lot easier! The first 2 to 3 weeks are the hardest, but once you get through that it will start getting easier. Hang in there, you can do it!

The dr said "soft liquids" drinkable yogurt.. Strained Soup and so on at 10 days. Soft foods not until 21 days. Sigh...

Thanks guys. I read everyone's happy posts and they REALLY help. I'm just smelling dinner fighting back tears. So ridiculous to cry over food, I know.

Allow yourself to grieve the person you used to be. That first month really sucks but once you make it through and reintroduce foods into your diet you will take on a totally new food identity. That part is fun and makes this journey worth it.

I'm almost four years out and my life feels like one of a naturally thin person. Celebrate eating very, very little. Enjoy this, a year from now you'll be able to eat much more than you can now and it will freak you out. This is your honeymoon period, take advantage of it!!! A year from now, you won't believe what you life is like.

Hi Nickole75! Don't get discouraged! I know its hard in the very beginning to deal with your new stomach and I promise it does get much easier sooner than what you think. I too was hungry when I 1st started and I found out that taking my Pepsid helped half of that (stomach acid tricks you into thinking its hunger). The other half was me really getting hungry (my stomach would growl). After a few weeks I was able to eat soft foods and I could barely eat one scrambled egg. Trust me, enjoy this now as time goes fast and you really want to lose as much weight as your body allows in the early weeks and months. I'm almost 5 months out and I still have great restriction of course but I can eat more than 1 scrambled egg...that's for sure. Rest assured that you are right on target and you're going through the same thing we all went through. In a couple of months you will hardly remember the issues you "used" to have. Good luck on your journey and don't give up! ;)

It is not ridiculous to cry over food, why do you think we are all here? ;-)

Immediately post op was the hardest phase for me, trust me, it gets SO much easier! Everytime you want to cry or eat, remind yourself of what this truly is: just a temporary post-op diet. Trust me, this is NOTHING like the rest of your life will be like. I am 3 months out today and I can eat everything (just smaller portions). I have zero intolerance and can go out to dinner with my family and enjoy the same food they eat.

The key is to keep yourself busy right now. Buy a ton of magazines, find pictures of outfits you will want to buy when you lose the weight, go on Pinterest and browse through the latest in women's fashion, write down an exercise plan, research gyms around your house, meditate....anyway, just keep your mind off of food.

You can do it, and we are here for you!!!

(hugs)

This is all helpful advice. I'm 1 wk post op tomorrow and feel like I'm going crazy because I feel like I'm not supposed to be hungry. I'm going to try to take my acid reducer. I have f felt heartburn so I've skipped it. I'm hoping it helps.

I cried all day on day three. I was worn out. It's emotional for sure. It does get way better. My family had pizza last week and made Cookies after and I barely noticed. I was happy with my chicken salad. But day 3 I cried cuz I couldn't eat pizza when I didn't feel good. Add proton to Water and milk.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
