Not doing too well with this thing. I am always throwing up. Someone with the sleeve told me to go for the sleeve and get the lap band out....WHAT TO DO? Two years and no real results in the last year. Just always sick and throwing up and feeling pressure in my throat and stomach! It's so uncomfortable!

Welp...I'm having mine taken out in one week with no revision. So my vote would be having it taken out. I'm not against other people getting revisions. I just do not want one. I have a lot of reasons for it.

I really just think life is too short to deal with the pain and BS that the band carries. Am I glad I did it originally? Yeah...because it got me on the road to health. Would I do it over again knowing what I know now? No way.

I say do your research. If the possible complications of a sleeve sound manageable to you, then I say go for it. I did read about potential complications before getting the LB. I think I had a form of denial that either that stuff wouldn't happen to me or that it really couldn't be any worse than being obese. I just wish I had known back then all that I know now about health, nutrition, fitness, and managing emotions.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a little extra help (surgery) if you need it. I hope you find the answers you seek. I"m sorry to hear you are struggling.

If you haven't made any progress in 2 years and you are constantly throwing up then something obviously needs to be done! Throwing up could me there are underlying probmels with your band, or it could be from your eating habits. Have you been successful in eating smaller bites, chewing more, and eating slower? That really is a big part of the learning process and takes a lot of time to get used to.

That being said...getting the sleeve is also an option! Your doctor would probably have some good insights as to what would be the best option for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
