beckyloo4 40 Posted March 16, 2014 I had bypass surgery on the 13th. Friday and Saturday I only got about 40oz of fluids in. Today I got 20oz of Protein Shake down, 8oz of broth and about 8oz of Water down already and it's only 3:30pm. My stomach feels like it's contracting and making noise like it would before the surgery if I haven't eaten all day. Has anyone else experienced this? I feel hungry but I don't know if my stomach is telling me it wants food or if it's full.
KittyKat848 93 Posted March 16, 2014 First, it is relatively normal. The nerves were cut during your surgery, so you won't be able to tell you're full for a while. That's why it's very important to measure/weigh everything for a while. Trust me, you'll feel restriction soon enough!

I am measuring all my fluids since I'm still on liquids until my week post op appointment. I feel fine, I just don't know how to read my stomach anymore if that makes any sense lol. I'm afraid of stretching out my pouch with too much liquid.< /p>
KittyKat848 93 Posted March 16, 2014 Don't worry about liquids stretching your pouch. If it's not causing you pain, it's fine to take in as much as you wish. Your pouch is like a funnel. Liquids cannot stretch it (unless you use them to wash solids through).
shmily 424 Posted March 16, 2014 I experienced that rumbly tummy but it was the air/gas rumbling around.....I felt like I was carrying a 10 lb baby~~
beckyloo4 40 Posted March 16, 2014 I had a pretty productive gas removal day yesterday, tmi, I know, lol. I'm trying to ignore it and just keep sipping away on my Water. I fear it may be head hunger, I'm not sure. I'll get through it. Thanks for your responses.
hope2be 10 Posted March 16, 2014 Mine has been grumbling too and I feel hungry also. I'm 5 days out so I know how u feel. I talked to my doc about something else and asked about the grumbling sand he said it is my bowels just starting to work again. That's good to know. If u do have problems with gas he recommended milk of magnesia. I took and it did help. Good luck to u!!!

Cookiesgotthis 50 Posted March 17, 2014 I had those confusing feelings, and my gut felt like it was loose moving when I was laying down. I'm 13 days out now, everything is feeling much better. I was just taking gas-x to help with the bloating feeling. So far so good it seems that everything is functioning properly.
