Gammy10 37 Posted March 16, 2014 I am in the very beginning stages of this process. I have decided I definitely want the procedure. Since my insurance has an exclusion, and I will be self pay, can someone give me an idea of how long the wait will be before I can actually have it done? Is the waiting period for insurance purposes only?
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted March 16, 2014 I had no wait. I scheduled my surgery 2 weeks after my initial appointment. It was awesome.
1Day1Life4Now 882 Posted March 16, 2014 With self pay the only wait you have is for when the surgeon can schedule your appointment. Good luck to you.
green*eyed*girl 170 Posted March 16, 2014 My wait is 2 months as my surgeon is super busy. Feb 12th was my first consultation and i'm scheduled for April 14th, that was his first available time. Good luck on your surgery!
cyoungblood 4 Posted March 16, 2014 I had to wait about two months but only because we discovered a sleep apnea which needed to be treated. Between that doctors schedule and my surgeon only performing surgery one day per month it wound up being about two months. I'm scheduled for Wednesday and I'm super excited and nervous at the same time.
SnohoGal98296 371 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Self pay here, they offered me an apt less than 6 weeks from my initial consult, said they could" fast-track" me through the medical tests, still need to have the nutrition and psych evaluation appointments (Just because you are self pay doesn't mean you won't split your sleeve if you aren't mentally prepared:-D). After that it is just the blood test and endoscopy. So apparently they would have moved as fast as I wanted to move though the testing phase. .. I had to slow it down because of some business travel, so my appt is June 11th. Edited April 4, 2014 by SnohoGal98296
DeniseNCC1701 306 Posted March 20, 2014 It was three weeks for me. I was able to skip the psych and nut consults. Be well…
