Telford Princess Royal - anyone been here?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about getting the sleeve done at Princess Royal with Dr Sigurdsson. Has anyone had their surgery here?

Whilst I was in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for the Gastric Sleeve procedure; the lady in the next bed to me had the same surgery and her consultant was Mr Sigurdsson. He was very professional and attentive . My surgeon was Mr Rink . If you,ve been offered surgery at Telford, take it hon! One things for sure.. no two surgery experiences are the same. Ive stayed in touch with the lady I met in the hospital and we share and exchange our experiences so far. I had a really rough time right after surgery , but she was sipping hot chocolate drink on the evening of her surgery!!! I couldnt even keep a sip of Water down for two days and had terrible retching. Since the initial few days ive been fine, but my friend has had a few problems ( fairly common ones associated with the surgery ) . What I would say to you is this.. if you are offered the procedure go for it! It,s not without its negatives but the positives FAR out-weigh those. Good luck. x :-)

Hi, I am 5 days post op. Had my surgery in Telford with Mr Sigurdsson. He is very proffessional! He explains everything in detail and always welcomes questions. He is a great choice! When are you thinking of having it?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
