willow13 59 Posted March 16, 2014 I had my surgery on the 3rd March, I am still really bloated (my belly is bigger than before I went for the op) and I have really bad wind. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how long did it take for it to go down and the wind to actually clear up?I am taking gaviscon to help with the wind but I really really hate the taste even if it does help, I would love to be able to stop using it.My other issue is I have really bad acid reflux since the operation, I never had this before the op. Has anyone else had this problem and if so are they still suffering it or did it clear itself?
1Day1Life4Now 882 Posted March 16, 2014 Yep, exactly. I had the same symptoms. I take Protonix/ Prilosec everyday first thing in the morning. It will help with the acid reflux. You might need to do this for 3 or 4 months. As far as the gas, the way to get rid of it is to start moving. You need to walk a couple of miles a day and it will make all the difference in the world. Maybe a mile in the morning and one in the afternoon. Your stomach is still swollen and tender inside so that is why your stomach seems larger than before. It's going to take at least 6 to 8 weeks after surgery for the swelling to be completely gone. Mine is still a tiny bit swollen but doctor says to give another week or two and I won't notice it. It's all a part of the healing process. Just go with the flow and you will be fine.
willow13 59 Posted March 16, 2014 I have limited mobility and I am actually registered disabled so walking a mile is simply a no go for me, I have been walking as much as I can but its no where near a mile.Glad to hear things will settle, I really hate the acid reflux.
