I stayed over night, I came home yesterday! I have to force myself to sip! I'm sipping broth, I ate Jello, and crystal light! I start tomorrow on shakes...my tummy feel real heavy! I guess it's the fluids from the I'V!

Do you feel nauseated? Are you taking pain meds?

So while I was in the hospital, a Walgreens rep visited me, and get this filled my prescription and bought it back to my room! I got the liquid pain reliever, and also a liquid Vitamin that's compounded with everything! I thought that was cool! You can inquire to see if your hospital does that!

May 13! I don't normally participate in public forums, but I feel like I need the support. Good luck to all!

The support is definitely needed, I had my surgery on May 7, and this forum got me through! It taught me about patience, understanding, what to expect, and this is day 2, and everything I have read up on has really helped me! You can private message me, if you have any questions!

Today is the last day of my full liquid diet and I start 1 week of Clear liquids prior to surgery on the 14th. I go for all of my preop testing tomorrow morning so I'm excited to be getting close. I lost 8.8 lbs since last Wednesday by gained a couple back today so that was extremely discouraging. But I'm sure ups and downs are going to happen!

Joybell, you are such a pretty young woman, you will be so happy when its done, I just wish I could have done this 30 years ago, it wouldn't have been mostly for health then. How are you doing with your liquid diet, have you tried making popsicles with your Clear Liquids, the Isopure clear is high in Protein and makes pretty good popsicles. I'll be thinking of you on your day just before mine.

Thanks! It had gotten so much easier. Anytime I have hunger pains I just grab a bottle of Water and it goes away! 4 days to go.

Thank you! Surgery was a breeze, only problem was coming out of anesthesia (norm for me), my biggest complaint: GAS PAINS! Ugghhh!

I agree I feel like I'm a big gas bubble. When will this stop?

I'm scheduled for May 8th. Nerves are all over the place! Been on pre op diet since April 25th, and have lost 7lbs, trying to make it to Thursday, just get lightheaded at times, drinking Vitamin Water zero for electrolytes. "I really can't believe I'm doing this", which from what I've read, goes through most everyone's mind. I pray for all of us who take this bold step! Sending positive thoughts your way!

Hi, sooo yesterday was your day. Welcome to the loser's bench. How did it go & how are you doing today?

My surgery was a success! I came out of anesthesia (finally), and started taking ice chips, and started walking around. I did have a hard time sleeping the night of my surgery, due to meds, gas pains (the worst), and I think just the activity of the day. I got home yesterday (Friday), and today I feel pretty good, just not sure how much is too much to drink, been on sf popsicles, green tea, chicken broth, white grape juice mixed with half Water, and my trusty heating pad. The gas-x strips don't help much, so I'm gonna ask my doc about Phazyme. Other than that, I'm moving slow but steady, no real complaints, I was told to focus more on staying hydrated than the Protein, that comes next week with my full liquid diet! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
