I have not had surgery yet but food has lost its flavor to me? Things I used to love to eat does not taste like it used to and also makes me sick. What's up with that? I guess for whatever reason this is happening, it will make it easier to give up those things after surgery.

Since my scope I'm definitely eating less and getting fuller faster.

It might be all in the mind. When I first decided to have surgery, I was all of a sudden starving all the time. But now that I'm getting closer, I'm less hungry and feel rather normal and smarter about my food decisions.

Are you taking any type of new medication? Sometimes medications can alter your sense of taste and smell which would definitely change the appeal of foods you once enjoyed. Surgery will probably change your likes and dislikes of food too. I used to be a coke-a=holic and quit them about 4months before surgery. It didn't stop my craving for them though. After surgery...no cravings for coke or anything carbonated. In fact the thought of drinking anything carbonated makes me queasy. It's funny how all this works.

I know it's not the Vitamins because it started before I decided to try vitamins.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
