ginger205 0 Posted May 15, 2007 I went to a ballgame, and I missed you all! I look forward to coming back to see what everyone is up to. I am addicted to this thread! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> Shell850- I was self-pay and my fills are included in that for 18 months. <o:p> </o:p> Welcome Smileygirl! <o:p> </o:p> Kacee- glad to hear you got things worked out! <o:p> </o:p> JennyC and losinit- good luck tomorrow! From here on out, you will be leaving pounds BEHIND!! <o:p> </o:p> Vscherer- Thanks for the reminder. I still have some pains on my left side too. It is weird, but it hurts to drive! My side just aches when I am in the car. I am still using the heating pad on my shoulder and back. <o:p> </o:p> Legster- WOW, sounds like you did great. I am glad you are home and feeling good. <o:p> </o:p> Welcome LilMonkey! <o:p> </o:p>
mcgreen 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Congrats to all who have done well this month. My surgery is in one week, I went and paid today, everything is set but I am FREAKED OUT. I've never had surgery and am really really nervous
ginger205 0 Posted May 15, 2007 mcgreen- I felt the same way. It will all be worth it in a few months. I think having my gall bladder out first did make it easier for me. It won't be bad at all!
smileygirl 0 Posted May 15, 2007 I NEVER HAD SURGERY EITHER AND I AM NERVOUS AS WELL, BUT I FIGURE IT WILL BE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN. JUST THINK POSITIVE...THAT IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO DO. BAND DATE 5/23/

NimbleBean 2 Posted May 15, 2007 I have my pre-admission testing tomorrow. Now it all seems real to me! I don't have to do any pre-op diet, just the usual limits on intake the night before surgery. I'm still not nervous, but am getting more excited each day. I'm trying to keep very busy to keep my mind off it all. Gardening, work from the office, cleaning the house... and lots of walks. Also, going to review my healthcare directive and will in the next few days. I'm not being morbid, but it is major surgery and I will feel better knowing that everything is in order. Good luck to our Tuesday bandsters. And welcome to our new May friends. NurseLaureli 1 Posted May 15, 2007 Hello to all my fellow a-MAY-zing bandsters! I hope all of you are doing well after your sugeries! To all those waiting still, I can't wait to hear your stories as well. Well...I was banded Mon 5/14. I got to the hospital and check-in around 7:30, got my IV (was stuck 3 times to get it as I am a hard stick), pre-surgery meds, and was taken to the OR around 10:30. I was in recovery and then back to my room at 12:30 or so (I can't remember exact times). My pain is bearable...they gave me Morphine in recovery and apparently it makes me funny b/c everyone was laughing at me. My husband said I giggled a lot when I first got to my room. They gave me Propel Water and New Whey Protein (grape flavored) to drink in recovery. I couldn't leave until I pee'd so we were there a little longer than I expected b/c I couldn't go the first time the nurse got me up. Since being home, I have only taken pain meds once. The doctor prescribed some liquid Lortab (which tastes extremely yucky). I took it at arould 7:00 pm yester day and wen't off to bed...now I can't sleep.< /p> Question for those who have been banded, when I drink water or the Protein Drinks, I feel like I have a ball in my throat. Not painful, but like I need to burp. Is this gas? I have been trying not to swallow air when I drink, but it still happens. I definetly didn't get in my req amt of water/protein when I got home yesterday b/c I am so freaked out about damaging my band. Any of you experience this? Glad to hear you are doing so well! As for your question, I was told to just sip, sip, sip for the first day or 2, no more than 3 oz. an hour. If that isn't how you are approaching it, it might be worth a try.
ragdollx19 1 Posted May 15, 2007 shell850-I have been wondering this same thing this is a response I got on another board. I was going to get the cpt code and call to ask my insurance. I have a real hard time believing they wont make me pay one penny for this surgery but wont cover fills but stranger things have happened! "90772 is not the correct code, it has been used incorrectly for awhile because there was not a code for band adjustments. The correct code is S2083, which is a temporary code. The reason 90772 is not correct is that it specifies subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and the saline is not injected into either it's injected into the port. ragdollx19 1 Posted May 15, 2007 Smiley - I get banded the same day as you. I cant believe it is 8 more days. Part of me is just super excited but part of me is starting to kind of feel panic?? I guess you can read everyone elses experiences on here but it is still "unknown territory" to you until it happens. Prayers that all goes well for all of us left to be banded. PghMomof3 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Good Luck to everyone being banded today! And easy recovery vibes to everyone that has already had surgery! I was banded last Monday 5/7 and it's getting better every day. Yesterday I went to our grocery store and got a huge bowl of Italian wedding Soup and strained it and ate it for dinner--omg, it was heaven. SOOOO much better than plain chicken or beef broth. I'll probably have to stop today, too! :youcandothis: NurseLaureli--yes, whenever I first started drinking it felt like it would get stuck and i would be 'burpy' for a minute before it went down. It still feels that way sometimes. I get bad hiccups every once in awhile, too. I think I might try to Walk away the Pounds today without any balls/bands--maybe a 1 mile walk won't be too bad. ??? am I overdoing it? Have a great day everyone!!!! GREATFUL 24 Posted May 15, 2007 Hello to all my fellow a-MAY-zing bandsters! I took it at arould 7:00 pm yester day and wen't off to bed...now I can't sleep. Question for those who have been banded, when I drink Water or the Protein Drinks, I feel like I have a ball in my throat. Not painful, but like I need to burp. Is this gas? I have been trying not to swallow air when I drink, but it still happens. I definetly didn't get in my req amt of water/protein when I got home yesterday b/c I am so freaked out about damaging my band. Any of you experience this? Sounds like you are doing great. My Doc. said not to worry the about your Protein intake the first two days. Just drink water and rest. Then you can focus on getting your protein after that. I had the same feeling when I swallowed that you are having. The nurse told me it was air. Just try to take small sips. It helped me to use a coffee straw. You know those little ones. Made me slow down, and didnt get much air when I used them. Good luck and take care of yourself, it gets better everyday.
