Thanks for the nice words of encouragement. I'm very fortunate that I have healthy, intellegent girls who went to college. Gotta look on the bright side, I will see them soon. I would just so love to turn the clock back. I've enjoyed every stage of their childhood (and I remember wishing things away like for instance "I can't wait till their first step" etc.) But now I'm enjoying them as young adults. And you're right, when I see them at Thanksgiving, they'll be looking at a "new" mom.

Thanks so much again.

Cindy

PS One pound to go till onderland (but maybe I'm there already, I don't have a scale yet)!

I did it! I met my first goal of half way there! I have dropped really fast lately and I don't know if it is finding my sweet spot or a little thing I discovered in trying to solve my Constipation problem. I was trying to get things moving with colace and it wasn't helping at all. My daughter-in-law said her mom uses a tea called 'Smooth move' in the organic section of your grocery store. I have been drinking one cup every night before I go to bed and every morning I pee my brains out and have a very successful BM. I know this probably won't help all of you who are on the looser end of things but it sure has moved things along for me in all departments.

Hello all!

Sandra I noticed I didn't tell you congrads on the onderland victory. That is a momentous occasion! I am extremly happy for you.

I was thinking I had a fill scheduled this morning but it turns out it is this Thursday. I am feeling thick today. You know, like Barney rubble...or like a thumb. I don't know why this is getting discouraging but it is. I am hearing a nice complement from someone each day..like today a lady walked in my office and said..your face looks thin...well, you know how I was whining the other week about having a fat face. Well, her compliment should have sent me over the moon, but I am still feeling like a sausage. Grrr, it might just be my brain telling me I am fat (or the devil more likely) I need to get past the poor body image and enjoy each and every pound that falls off. That's it, I refuse to wallow, I am going to be in good spirits no matter how my brain is trying to trick me....I win!

Blessings, Weazer

I had my first fill last Thursday. I was on liquids until Sunday and since have had mushies/soft. I even had a couple of bites of hamburger last night without a problem. This morning I had a few bites of a hard boiled egg and started to slime..... it was very painful. It went away for about 2 minutes and then came back even worse. I ended up dry heaving and then vomiting. Then a few minutes later I started to slime again.....on an empty stomach!!! It went of for about 40 minutes!!! I heard gurgling for a while later too. :girl_hug:

So I guess I have some restriction now!!!! It was not very pleasant. I am so afraid of it happening again so for dinner I had some mashed cauliflower. Maybe I will have a Protein Shake later.

Just thought I would share. I now have more sympathy for all the people who have been through this before me, until it happens to you, its not so bad!!!!LOL

I had my second fill on August 17th. I now know what this slimming thing is. I wasn't in as much agony as some of you but man it hurts. I'm having a hard time with pretty much everything except liquids. You would think I would be losing weight hand over fist but only 5 pounds since the fill. Unfortunetly, because I can only do liquids, I lean towards frostys because they are cold and feel good. I'm vowing to not do that tomorrow. Wish me luck. The pain of stuck food is really bad and a bit scarey.

Laurie - STAY AWAY FROM THE ICE_CREAM!!! It does go down easy, that is why it is such a no-no. It totally defeats the way the band works. It is my downfall so I just have to tell myself none ever, or I would visit Coldstone every day.

Boy Ray must be proud of you now. You look awesome. Like Wenjea says - you don't even look like the same person.

Wenjea,

Thanks so much for the ice cream talk. I so needed somebody to kick me in the butt. I need to go back to chicken broth and things like that if I am having trouble. Thank you thank you.

I wouldnt think this far out you would still have to be on liquids or mushies? Are you sure youre not too tight?? I think I would call my doctor, it has been almost two weeks since you had your fill.

Anyone notice that their stomach muscles are SOOOO WEAK??? Before surgery I could do inclined situps, after surgery I can barely do one on a flat mat! I have been doing crunches on the ball to try to work the strength back up! It is quite the uphill battle though.

Next, I get stuck last night on soup!!! Granted it was escarole Soup with mini meatballs and pastina - but seriously! I was heaving and hiccupping for an HOUR! I think it was the meatballs. I get stuck everytime I eat meat or grilled chicken. Anyone else with this? I am practically going vegetarian and not by choice. I can only deal with tofu, Beans, tuna with lots of vinegar and mayo to make it liquidy, some eggs, some soft fish, and chicken if it's mushed up or in sauce. I can't eat any solid meat at all or I am stuck for a long time. I am finally losing more weight so I"m not willing to get unfilled. I think it's just the price I have to pay to get to goal!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
