May 2007 Banders

Recommended Posts

I must admit I am feeling deficient in the weight loss department when I look at some of your tickers. My scale and me just have not been getting along much lately. I am at the lowest I have been in a long time though so I am thrilled about that. It is really hard not to compare yourself to others on here.

How much have those of you with 4cc bands gotten for your fills? My last one was only .2 cc.

NSV-My capris are so loose they look like pants that are too short. I seriously need a belt. I just wish I could fit into those 3 pairs of capris that are a size 16 in my closet. I absolutely refuse to buy any new clothes until they are smaller sizes. As badly as I need work clothes I would rather look like a scrub than buy another 18/20 anything!

Laura...

Congrats on the "Sweet Spot" I have my second fill on Monday and I hope to find it too b/c I'm feeling nothing now. What thype of band & how much fill do you have?

Ragdollx19...

I have a 4cc, but I've only had 1 fill @ 1.8cc, no real restriction yet.

Hang in there, a slowly moving scale is a moving scale! Slow weight loss is better for your body and definitely better for all that loose skin. I know some day I'll look back and see that this stage of transformation in my life was not so long in the light of a lifetime, even though it seems sooooo slow!

This probably going to be a stupid question, but how exactly does it feel when you reach the "sweet spot". I've had 3 fills, totalling 2.5 cc. It's been a week since the last fill and sometimes I have problems such as excessive belching after I eat or drink anything and sometimes I don't have any problems at all. I can't have solids until the evening. So I drink a Protein Drink for Breakfast and usually have some sort of Soup for lunch. By the evening I can usually eat something solid. But yesterday I felt like or thought I was hungry and so when I got home I had a few "100 calorie oreos" and i felt so miserable, but I've had them before since the last fill and didn't have a problem. I guess every day is a different day and the band has "moods". Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Ragdoll,

Sounds like you're doing awesome. And as they say, slow and steady wins the race!! I know what you mean, though, I just want that scale to move, and sometimes it doesn't!! Mostly it hasn't. I just had another fill last Wednesday, so we'll see. It's a total of 1.5 in a 4cc band. I have no idea if I am at the sweet spot. How will I know? Is it when you can't eat very much? I'm eating a lot less and have to be real careful to realize when I'm full (sometimes it's not so good). Perhaps I'll know when I'm there? I'm just gonna take it slow and see how it goes. As much as I'm in a hurry, I'm really not.

Everyone's doing so great, keep up the good work. We are AmayZing, now aren't we?!!! Ooo, sorry so long!! I got carried away, it's been a while.

Cindy

I have a total of 2.5 in a 4cc band. I guess for me I consider the "Sweet Spot" to be where I am full after about a cup of food and stay full for over 4 hours. I can eat most anything, just not much of it. There are a few things that give me problems, Pasta, bread, rice, bananas (unless I smash them up first), and dry meat. I had my 2nd fill 3 weeks ago, I was one of those that had delayed restriction. I did not fill much the week after the fill, but at 2 weeks is when I felt the restriction. I love where I am at now. Hope it stays this way a while.

Hello,

I am not sure if I have ever posted on this thread before. But, I am going to start. I had my band May 7th, 2007. I had my second fill just today. I have gone from 232 to 208. I am 5'5 1/2 ". I could have lost faster but I am afraid that I have had my slip ups. They are getting fewer and farther between now. I was wearing 18/20 but now can fit into most of my 16's (I have many sizes in my closet from so much yo yoing). But, I too refuse to buy any more 18/20's. There is a big difference. I am feeling much better, even with only a 24 pd weight loss. My face is thinner and I feel much more flexable. I can squat down and place mail in the employee's mailbox on the lower level now and not die trying to get up. I can walk to the mailroom without being out of breath. Feeling much better in general. I can't wait to see if this second fill makes any difference. I have been able to eat anything. I have had a few PB incidents, but that was when I forgot to chew thouroughly. I am pretty much following the rules except having trouble stopping drinking during meals. Also, once a week or so I have been blowing it with sweets. I need to get a handle on both of those. It is great to find this thread.

Blessings, Weazer

Has anyone else come to the realization as I have of how much bull I've feed myself over the years...the weight doesn't really matter, I'm still just as active, I still function normally...blah...blah...blah... The more weight I loose the more I reallize how much the weight has impacted my life. I wouldn't have admitted it, I was in such denial. Feels so much better to fell so much better!!!

Dear Leg,

Thanks for the tip. I will read it carefully and try to apply! I have been spending several mini breaks reading up on all the back May bandster posts. It feels so good to find peeps that are on the same road as I.

As I said, I had my second fill today and have had no hunger. He said I could only have Clear Liquids for 24 hours. I am not even hungry. I will try and eat some Soup tonight. My first fill was 2cc in a 4cc band. But, today he took out 1 1/2 cc and put another 1 1/2 cc in. He said now you really have 2cc's. I don't understand, but o.k. What ever he says. Now in a couple of days I will test the restriction and see if there is any difference. These doc's can be confusing at times!

Blessings, Weza

Sue,

I totally understand what you mean. Even the little bit I have lost has made me realize all the things I dont let myself do, or just physically cannot do. I am really looking forward to feeling like being more active and to doing some of those things I dont do because of my weight. Hell even painting my toe nails is becoming less of a chore!

Good Morning Everyone!!

I called yesterday afternoon to try schedule my fill... they were able to get me in this morning!! YAY!! Dr added .5 into the band for a total of 3ml. He said it was quite snug and to be careful the next couple of days (2 days liquids, 2 days mushies).

I'm going to pick up my gown today!! I just have to clear out some space in our cedar closet...

Melissa, How exciting to pick up your gown today......I am sure you are gonna try it on every week!!! I dont think I need a fill, but I want one. I have been steady loosing, but I am eating more than before. I dont know if that is a good or bad thing. I am very stressed about my bridesmaid dress not fitting by December 8th though. I am shooting for 8 pounds a month......I am 207 now....so that would put me around 170 lbs. I just dont want to STOP lossing.....I see that all the time on the board.....people that lost 30 pounds the first 3 or 4 months and its been a year and are stuck!!!!! Yikes that scares me!!! Well you are doing great in your weight loss!!!!! When is the wedding anyways??

Sandra-

Thank you! I'm really excited to pick it up.. but I want to avoid trying it on every other day! I guess you could say I'm still losing steady (about 10lbs in the past month)... however I'm not getting full as fast and I'm still able to eat too much.. and according to how my Dr works... that means you need a fill. His theory is that you should be able to eat about 1 cup of food and be full for hours..

I also fear the time when I stop losing...and I'm nervous about becoming one of those people who like you said.. lose 30-40 then stop. We'll just have to keep stepping up the exercise and keep following the rules!

The wedding is 11/10/07.. its coming up fast!

I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and noticed I'm taking on the look of someone who lost weight quick... ya know.. that kind of big head little shoulders look... anyone else notice this?

I know the look you are referring too.....I only notice it in my face, and jaw line....I guess because I have a jaw line now....and I am not as WIDE!! When I loose weight I loose it all over....not just in one specific place....so its harder to tell!! Did that make sense???? My stomach is starting to get really soft and mushy and wrinkled....I think I will need a Tummy Tuck after its all said and done......and oooh LORD my boobs look sooooooo drooppy and saggy....like sacks of potatoes!! LOL!! I might need some BREAST IMPLANTS TOO!! LOL!!! When I tell my husband that I need all those things....he thinks I am crazy and I dont need to do all that.....my response is.....well I might want to become a stripper or a porn star once body looks good naked!! JK!!! LOL!!

Well I am right behind you on the weight loss.....so far 35 and you 37 and you were banded a week before me. So we are at the same pace!!!YEA US!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
