May 2007 Banders

Recommended Posts

I am going back to the doctor today. I am still not able to drink or eat very much. What scares me is the not drinking....my back is starting to hurt I think it might be my kidneys. I try to drink but I start burping and then get the hic ups and it sounds like a stopped up sink. It gurgles on the way down. Food....I take two bites and then I got to go throw up. I thought I could handle it because I didnt feel bad, but NOW I feel bad.

Cindy,

I am sorry that your discouraged. I won't give you any platitude's. I know youv'e heard them all. I will just say..keep on track with your eating and exercising and the wght will come off. It really will. By may of next year you will have most of the wght off if you stay on track. Don't let the numbers get you down. I bet you look so much better and feel so much better than you did almost 6 months ago.

Hang in there and just wait.

Blessings, Weazer.

Sandra, when do you see the doc next?

Just got back from the Doctor's office. The PA took all my fill out....so I am back to square one. She was really worried about my dehydration and my kidneys. Made me drink a huge bottle of Water before I left. No burping or hic ups. I am on a mushie diet for 3 days with NO protein...unless its a Protein Shake. I have irrated my stomach from all the throwing up so I have to chill.....no acidic foods, no coffee, no spicy foods, just yogurts, baby food, mashed potatoes and creamy Soups. At this point she doesnt care if I have high calorie stuff....I put my body through starvation and she wants me to recover and feel better. She said in a couple of days my body is gonna want to EAT like a mad person but to try to use my head and make good choices. I am just glad I can drink.....I was soooo thirsty!!!

Poor baby! Don't worry about your fill right now. Just drink. Get hydrated. Just think you will get a fill in a few weeks and you'll be able to eat better. You'll may even have a better insight as to when you have enough of a fill.

I am thankful that you are o.k.

Take care of yourself!

Thank you all for your concerns these last couple of weeks. I must say...that total unfill has made a huge difference in how I feel. I have been drinking Water like crazy and am starting to feel like myself. I just hope I can go through this month without gainning any weight. That would soooo suck after all this.

Sandra,

So glad you're feeling better. How scary that must have been for you. But the most important thing is your health, so don't worry about the weight QUITE so much (I know that of course weight is on ALL of our minds, but you just need to nurse your pouch back to healthy first). Just follow your doctor's orders, and try to use your good judgement.

Please keep us posted. Is your back feeling better yet?

Sandra, Y R U asking about flipped ports, do you have one?? Or just worried about it? I cant believe how difficult your fills are, I feel so badly for you! It just sounds so traumatic!

Weazer- You are so encouraging, I love it! I was down to 209 this morning so Onderland is a very real possibility by Turkey Day.

I wore a size 16 non stretchy pants yesterday and looked pretty good! Sometimes it is so surreal. I wish the rest of my 16's would fit right soon because I am tired of being in between sizes!

Sandra-Congratts on getting the license! When we got ours they made sure to ask us if we were related? Of all things who would really say yes to that if it were true?? What is your wedding date again? You arent going to have surgery before then are you?

My daughter is 5, had tubes in her ears a year and a half ago and all of a sudden in Kindergarten has failed her hearing tests and is really struggling with following instructions at school. When you talk to her you have to do it loudly like talking to an older person or she really cant hear you. I feel like a terrible mother because I she really changed when she started school and I just thought she was being defiant. Now we get to go back to the specialist in a few weeks to see what must be done. Having children is hard, I feel bad, I want her to be better, but I dont want her to have another ear surgery. I wish I could trade places with her. I feel like she has already missed out on so much at school in the first 3 months. Sorry for rambling!

Get a good ENT and stay on it... I had ear problems from birth until age 11.. then it started back at age 19 and I'm still dealing with it after 4 sets of tubes, and having one of my ear drums rebuilt... I do have some hearing loss and constant ringing in my ears... I really feel for your daughter!!!

I met my NSV goal for the month... I can now fit very comfortably in those size 16 dress pants I bought over 2 years ago!!

I don't know about anyone else.. but I welcome NSV's almost more than the actual weight loss!!!

Oh Sandra, that's right, the dress problem. How did that ever turn out with your dress for your friend's wedding? Were they sending you a bigger size that you had to have altered? Or were you hoping to lose? Hopefully that all got resolved.

UUUGGGG the dress!!!! Well they had to order me a size 20 because the only other option was a 4 and 6. Since my original dress was tagged as a 16 but was actually a 9/10 there was no way I could get into that by December 8th! So I got the 20....they called about 2 weeks ago that the dress was in so I went in to try it on and pick it up. They asked me to try it on because they new I was going to need alterations. Guess what the sales girls said??? "YOU COULD OF JUST ORDERED A SIZE 16!" I could of just punched her in the face!!!!!!! Now I need about $75 worth of alterations to fix the darn cursed dress. I already paid 150 for the dress!! UUUGGG!!! So I am not happy!!!

Melissa......I can not believe the wedding day is so close!! It seemed so far off when we were first banded! Good luck! Don't forget to send pictures to your band mates!

Sandra....I am so glad you are feeling better. You do not want to look great but compromise your health doing it! I cannot believe you could have ordered a 16.....you would have been justified in hitting her!LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
