May 2007 Banders

Recommended Posts

I have only lost 25 pounds, had another adjustment for a total of four cc's yesterday so I am hoping for more results. Anyone out there that has had to have more than four adustments?

I am going in for my 4th fill on the 28th. I have 2.2cc in a 4cc band, but I can still just about eat anything. My "snacking" has come to a complete stop because I am not hungry between meals, but I do eat alot at my meals. We shall see if I can get more restriction. GL!

Jerseydori, thanks for the reply, I had my surgery may 8th, this year. I do feel a lot more restricted since yesterday. Got filled up quickly. Now if I could just find the time and energy to excersize............

Some people take many adjsutments before they find the right spot. I do not know personally but have heard the larger bands are harder to find the elusive sweet spot with.

Question for all you May banders; I was banded in June, first fill July 31. After about a week I have found that food, a piece feeling, is in my throat. I was told by another bander that maybe I am overfilling my pouch. So, i started measuring my food to 4 oz, it is still happening. then other advice is it is irritated, and to drink liquids for two days.

Any thoughts? Am I eating to fast? Did I damage something. If anyone else has experienced this please let me know.

I go to the doctor next Friday and want another fill, I don't want this to stop that. ...Help?

Does it feel like its there all the time when you swallow, or is this just something that happens when you eat? If it just happens when you eat maybe you arent chewing well enough or are eating to quickly? You could always call your Dr's office and ask. If it were something abnormal I wouldnt think getting a fill would help your case. Good luck though! Maybe someone who has felt what you are talking about can help more. This past few days when I swallow it feels like something in my throat but it is not food for sure.

I have been in a mood the past 2 weeks. The scales have not moved and, like alot of you, I weight myself way too much. It hit me this morning what is bugging me. I was banded May 2nd. I am alittle over 3 months out. I got to thinking, this is when I would alway fall of the diet wagon when I was going to like Weight Watcher, or any other diet. So I guess I am scared, that it is going to happen again. That this is just a dream, I can really loose this weight and not gain it back plus some. Being healthy, at a normal weight, wearing smaller clothes..... it is a dream that can come true. Like someone said... Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

LauraP: I know exactly what you mean, though this is dreams that Im having for real. The other night I was dreaming that I was eating donuts and my reaction was that I knew sooner or later I was going to mess this up and start gaining the weight back. When I woke up I was so happy to find out that it was just a dream and that I hadnt really eaten any donuts. I keep thinking that this is only going to be short lived but than I remind myself that it is going to be different this time because I have my band to make it different. Im hoping that as long as I go to the dr when I should and keep up with my fills that even if I wanted to Im only going to beable to eat so much and than when I start to fell uncomfortable and maybe pb or slime that will jerk me back to reality and what it is that Im suppose to be doing.

Hello Ginger, I live in Denton. Not too far. I love to shop, but it is usually at resale shops or garage sales. When I have some money to burn, I like to shop at Cato's. They have cute cloths and accessories and are inexpensive. Maybe sometime in the future we will get together and shop and split an entree for lunch!

Oh, and I no what some of y'all mean about those dreams about failing. Because I am living. It. I am still not on track since I lost that 4 pds. I am afraid to weigh cause I know the scale has moved up. My problem is at night after I get home. I eat fine all day, then I lose it. I new that there was one big brownie left in the kitchen from the batch that my daughter had made and I kept trying to put it out of my mind...but I jumped up and ate it. I am so mad mad mad at myself. But, I won't stay mad for long. I will beat this!

So I know you guys told me not to weigh every day...but I was able to admit that I was unable to do that!!! Well I was bummed yesterday because I was up two pounds (206). Well I was a very good girl yesterday....had all my Water, Protein, walked 2miles, no snacking and I even had dinner!! Got on the scale this morning and the scale said.......drum role please.........................202!!! Checked it 3 times!!! I had to sit on the toilet and cry.....I have a yellow Lab (Shelby) a black Lab (Angel) and some big, crazy dog named Honey. Well as I sat on the toilet and cried tear of joy my three dogs licked my legs and my two kids were totally confused why I was crying but gave me lots of hugs and sugars!!

Ragdoll- How did you get your before and after pics side by side? I can't figure it out...........

I live in Mansfield Texas. Maybe a few of us around here could form our own monthly support group. Just a thought!

My scale is stuck too! I am going to do Protein Shakes for two of my meals a day and see what happens.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
