May 2007 Banders

I got a call this afternoon that my insurance approved my surgery at 100%!! It was faster than they told me it would be. They submitted my paperwork Friday and got approval today. I go in Thursday for pre-op testing and then the following week I meet with the surgeon and schedule my surgery for 2 to 3 weeks. So hopefully by the end of May I will be banded! Good luck to all those waiting. I am so happy to be here.

Okay, so Thurs. is it and I'm so scared that I'm going to screw this up!!! I'm not worried about the surgery (not really), I'm just worried that I will not succeed with this like I haven't succeeded in the past sooooo many times. I have to be honest....I did not make it the whole 8 days on the liquid diet...I had some food yesterday and today....I was soooooooo sick and crabby and just a crying mess. I did not realize what kind of hold food has on me....I've already lost 7 or 8 pounds, and that really does feel great. I just needed to tell you all about it and now I feel better....I will start fresh tomorrow. My surgeon said that my liver is already in great shape, but I'm still really disappointed in myself that I messed up. That's what makes me worry about after the band....I HAVE TO DO THIS AND SUCCEED!!!! It's good to know that I have so many people who are pulling for me!!! Good luck everyone!

BTW, my grandfather is doing okay...he is still in the hospital, but hopefully he'll get to come home next monday or tuesday.

You just gave me an idea for the name for my band when you said "May Flowers" ....she is now going to offically be Daisy!

Raysbabe I am being banded on Thursday also and I think everything you are feeling is normal. I think the anticipation of the surgery alone is enough to make you want to eat. Be proud of the weight you were able to lose. Your going to do great!

<p>Good luck to all the May 2nd bandsters, and if I missed any from today, I hope all went well. You all are in my prayers. I was also wondering if you all could keep my oldest daughter (Darien) in your prayers. She has started having weight issues and she will be turning 10 tomorrow. She is so hard on herself about it, but I was about her age when I started gaining my weight. She is about 30 lbs. over what she should be. She is in a tumbling and trampoline class and does great and was on a tumbling and trampoline team last year, it was awesome. But, her coach said that she will not be able to get back onto team until she gets her weight under control, so again, please put her in your prayers that we get her back to where she needs to be, she really misses team bad. Okay, thanks for listening.</p>

A list of all the reasons I would like to lose 100 lbs.

1. to be able to bend over and tie my shoes and breathe at the same time

2. to lose my apron (if you know what I mean, say Amen)

3. to stop giving Lane Bryant so much money

4. to be active with my kids

5. to feel like being more "active" with my husband

6. to set a better example for my kids

7. to not always be the largest person in the room

8. so all of my pant will no longer have those lovely worn spots where my thighs rub

9. To wear a skirt and not get a rash on my thighs

10. to be able to cross my legs

11. to be able to pass by someone and not feel like my huge @ss is gonna knock them over

12. to wear "cute" undies again... shop at Victoria's Secret again! (no more granny panties)

13. so I don't have to suck my stomach in all the time.

14. So I won't have to constantly be re-arranging my clothes to make sure all of my lumps and bumps are covered appropriately.ponder.gif

15. so I can fit comfortably in an airplane seat

16. So I won't have to wear a full-length trench coat to the beach

(exaggeration, but you get what I mean)

17. So when I want to walk at lunch with the girls, I can keep up with

them and not feel self-conscsious because I'm breathing heavier than

they are.

19. not be ashamed to be in a FULL LENGTH picture!

20. So I can ride roller coasters.

24. Dance again, it wears me out right now.

25. Play with my children till I can't play anymore.

28. Be more outgoing and confident.

29. Be comfortable with this body to show it off a little.

30. Have a glamour shots session.

31. Lay out on the boat in a bikini while cruising the lake.

32. I want to be able to tuck in a shirt again....I know its not the style but I still would like to have the option.

33. I want to walk up stairs and be able to talk when I get to the top.

34. I want to live long enough to drive my kids crazy and spoil the grandkids!

35. Enjoying snowboarding, wakeboarding and hiking without it feeling like a chore.

44. Feeling good about myself

45. riding dirt bikes and my dh's motorcycle

46. being able to go go more than 2 minutes on a stairmaster without stopping

47. being able to use step stools and chairs without worrying they will break

Do I see 100 reasons to lose 100 lbs. ? Did I miss any of them. I tried not to but we were very busy with the reasons.

I had my nutrition appt. today. I start the diet tomorrow. I am excited and scared at the same time. All my close friends are praying for me and also giving up something for me from now until I get home from the hospital. One of them is giving up sweets, one fried foods, one of them coffee. Did I mention all my friends are skinny? They are so supportive! I am so blessed!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

      Woohoo! I have 7 more days till surgery, So far I am already down a total of 20lbs since I started this journey.
