RAYSBABE 1 Posted April 14, 2007 Hi everyone. My date is May 10th, and the excitement is almost unbearable. The time, I'm told, will pass, but it seems to move so slowly! The surgery doesn't scare me so much, like you all are mentioning, it's AFTER the surgery that's a little daunting. Everyone seems to adjust really well, however, so I'm really positive about the whole thing. I'm just so used to eating so fast (I guess I'm always in a hurry), that it's just gonna have to be focus time to really pay attention. This band should really be great for Portion Control, which is another big one with me. So it will be re-learning HOW to eat as well as WHAT to eat. IT'S ALMOST MAY!!! I can totally relate....my date is May 3 and I find myself really worried about sticking to this life change. I have failed sooooo many times in the past and I don't want to repeat my failures again. This is costing us over $17,000 and I also worry about failing and wasting all that money. It certainly wasn't easy to come by and I know for a fact that I won't be able to get it again, so this is it.....I HAVE TO succeed! I soooo look forward to being and feeling like a new person. My goal is 135 pounds, which I haven't seen since I was 11. I have no idea what it is like to be a normal-sized adult (or child for that matter), but I can't wait to find out. I'm so glad that I found this forum where I can ask all the questions I want and get much needed support. Thanks so much everyone!:clap2:
mommalee 0 Posted April 14, 2007 My date is also May 3 . My husband asked me today if I was getting excited and I told him NO...I am relieved! I've been thinking about this for a long time, researching, making changes in my eating habits little by little, exercising more, etc. I couldnt decide if I should get the band or not, but after going to the seminar I realized that it was the tool I needed to help me reach my goal of losing a significant amt of weight. Once I made the decision I felt a tremendous sense of relief, like my life had been in a holding pattern but now its moving forward. Fortunately I find the time to be going by super fast as I am so busy. I am self employed and the grandmother of 6 little ones that I watch regularly. I have added aerobic swimming 3X a week, and the treadmill/bicycle 2X a week. In addition I have had all the required mtngs (surgeon, bariatric coordinator, psychiatrist, nutritionist, all day pre-op seminar, gym trainer, etc ) to attend before surgery. I have two more meetings next week and need to purchase my Vitamins and protien drink, etc. And I am working with a couple of clients right now. (I do interior decorating, upholstery work, etc). SO......May 3rd will be here before I know it. The only 'down' side is that I have to be at the hosp. by 5:30 am. YAWN.

cindyluhu 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Courtneyjeter How great that you started on this journey with us. You'll do wonderful, especially since you want so much to succeed. As much as it seems so scary to me, I am also really, really excited to be starting my new life. Like you, (and probably most here), I've dieted before. When I say I've dieted, I mean DIETED!! I've tried them ALL it seems. They ALL work, I think any diet will, you just have to keep them up forever. That was my problem. But now I've got a new outlook, and greater hope because we're going to have this wonderful tool that was designed to HELP us help ourselves. We're not failures, we just need the tools to help us succeed with what we want for a new US. Good luck to you and welcome! Cindy
healthny 0 Posted April 15, 2007 how are we all doing?? are the nerves setting in yet?? I find not thinking too far out is really helpful in keeping the emotions in check. My immediate goals are to line up what I need for surgery and the "dreaded" liquid phase -- I know I have to stop saying it but I don't recall ever going one than one day only on liquid -- which made me really think about a thread Jack posted here entitled is the the food or the eating. With the liquid looming I have come to recognize for me it is definately the eating. -- I am just going take it a day a time and line up some really healthy basic food choices. Here's another hint that might be helpful -- they say the more food choices you have the "hungrier" you become. I am going to try and tackle that phase by pretty consistantly having the same thing for two meals during the day (definately high in Protein low in sugar) and one meal with a little more variety. My hope is that if I power pack a "meal drink" I will feel really good mentally and physically - it's the "mind game" that's gonna suck. For, me six weeks, seems like a life time. I am just gonna keep myself as distracted and away from the kitchen as possible. Anyone else got a plan -- please do tell..

Well, that's not true... it's just... a secret... yea, a secret.. so I can't tell... *running off to come up with a plan other than being bitchy for the liquid diet phase*

jobyone1 0 Posted April 16, 2007 I keep having nightmares! I went on the complications forum and I keep reading about people that can't even swallow Water due to post op swelling. That scares the crap out of me since I'm having it done in Mexico and I need to get home to kids and work. Also, I haven't told anyone and that would be a dead give away. Anyone else scared about complications?

susaninnkc 0 Posted April 16, 2007 I have started a somewhat preliquid diet. My hubbie makes me a Protein smoothie in the morning for my Breakfast. I have one mid-morning. a small lunch and dinner. then another Protein smoothie at night time. I am getting well over 81gram of protein a day. I was off of it this week and felt really bad. But this really meant a lot to me because I have really never thought that my hubbie and been 100% supportive. And this morning he came in from work at 6:10am and told me that I am going to have to stop by Mcdonalds and get my own Breakfast he was too tired to make my smoothie for me. I just said okay. But when I got out of my shower there was a smoothie waiting for me. and he came in and told me that it wasn't fair to me that he was too tired to make my smoothie for me. but I was going to have to make my own lunch. this meant more to me more than anything. I am also really nervous and excited about my surgery. I am really scared for one thin--I know I hide behind my weight and what am I going to do after I loose my weight???? Mr. Yoda 0 Posted April 16, 2007 I guess I belong here too, as My banding date is May 4th at TLBC Toronto. My wife ( :sleep Mrs. Yoda  ) will have her band one year as of Saturday coming, so I have in effect live with the band for a year. I don't have many concerns about getting it, it's the afterwards that I am focusing on. I am also a Chef and have availability to copious amounts of food that is BAD for me:decision:. But with her help and a little (OK... A LOT) of will power I will be Fine. PreOP yoplay diet comencing on the 24 of April... not that makes me nervous!!!!:faint:
