All I can say is some sail through this and some have minimal issues and others well they get a truck load of trouble. Best thing to do is look at the possible positive outcome in the near future.

You are your own advocate and control how you deal with the downs that you have and are experiencing...By staying positive and reminding yourself that this is temporary you can get through any problem.

It is 50% attitude and 50% the cure...I know you don't see it right now but I believe that you will see things a lot better once the weight starts rolling off and you can see the differences...

You can do this.....And later when it is over you can encourage others when they are down from complications... :)

I'm so sorry that you're struggling. There are many on here who have had many complications, especially early on and they go on to be thrilled. I sincerely hope that you turn a corner and start to recover. Check out rjs/beginning. .. she's much farther out than you are and she is an incredible inspiration. My prayers are with you

It's been so difficult for me too. People say its so easy no pain no gas feel great up walking exercising so happy!! Well that's not the case for everybody. I've been struggling. I'm still struggling I wish I didn't do this, I say this to myself all the time. People say they are not hungry. Well I'm hungry all the time and everything hurts on the way down even Water. I also ended up in the ER. People tell me this is the hardest part it will get better. It's not really getting better!! Maybe we just have to wait 6 months to a year to get as close to normal as we can. I don't know. The only thing that even remotely makes me happy is the scale, but now at 3 weeks it has stopped. So there's no happiness about anything now. I know where you are coming from I think this sux! Bigtime! I only want to sleep and stay in bed and never get up.

If I read your post right you are 3 weeks out? I think my recovery was pretty text book and at three weeks out, even though I was back to work, I was incredibly week, dehydrated, sore, grumpy and the weight wasn't coming off like I thought it would. In the days following surgery I felt improvement hour by hour, then week by week. It wasn't until I hit about 2months that I started to feel almost normal again. You'll get there.

Hang in there, girl! The first few weeks are the hardest, and everyone's body reacts differently - plus it's common to have a stall about three weeks out! Remember, you've had major surgery and it will take time for your body to adjust, but things WILL continue to improve!

I remember being able to feel food and Water get to my stomach, and it felt strange and uncomfortable (luckily not painful). That passed eventually and now at five months I no longer notice it. Your time will come.

Be patient with yourself, don't rush the progression of foods, and try to stay positive. Your own attitude can speed up or slow down your healing process, so concentrate on whatever good things you can!

Sounds like you may be dealing with some depression, so talk to your doctor about it, too, and get outside for a little walk every day. It'll do you good, physically and mentally. Wishing you the very best.

RJ is an awesome inspiration to anyone having more than their share of aggravating complications. She was a complication magnet! Maybe you would like to send her a private message to absorb some additional strength from her abundance of courage. I wish you good luck and good health.

What foods have you been trying? What Meds have they had you on so far? Have you had a barium swallow or scope to find out what could be going on? I've gone through several weeks of nausea (from the metronidazole I was taking for a colon infection, not from my sleeve), so I know how miserable that feeling is. Hope you can get some relief. Be a squeaky wheel till they figure out what's wrong.

The first month is so hard, it can be a very trying time. I had serious buyer's remorse for the first 5 days because I couldn't keep fluids down. I had a problem with acid. A liquid antacid worked much better for me than the crushed pills. My surgeon figured that out and I was good to go. After I healed I switched to pills (tip - get a prescription as it is cheaper than buying it over the counter) and they work fine.

I turned a corner during weeks 5 and 6, I bet you do too! I will be three months out on 3/16. I'm at Zumba 3 days a week and feel great! The biggest problem I have is keeping my pants up! Keep your eye on the prize - things will get better!

Maybe you could pretend you are pregnant and having morning sickness, in several months you will be thin instead of fat and you won't have a nagging teenager in 13 years. Sorry, sometimes a sense of humor helps, no offense intended.......can't your doc give you something? Mine did for nausea...

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
