Well, I got my dates yesterday and my op is scheduled for the 28th, two weeks.

I am seeing the dieticien next week and my consultant next Friday and that's it. I'm starting to get a bit worried that it won't work, I won't cope, am I making the right decision blah blah blah but you know what I mean.

I was given a pre op to do about 4 weeks ago. I stuck to it pretty much but have had a couple of blow outs, the last being yesterday evening. I had two bottles of wine, beef wellington and later when the carb muchies hit, prawn cocktail sandwiches. I mean WTF is wrong with me?

So will be back on it tomorrow, its not to late is it? I will be back on the milk only and yogerts for the next two weeks. I have my mother in laws funeral on Monday and will be away for three days, I hope to goodness I will be able to stick to the pre diet.

Did you all have pre op jitters, did or do you worry that it still won't work and how you will cope?

Congrats on your surgery date!! I hope you find the resources inside you to stay focused and do well. I used my pre-op diet time as a dry run for my surgery. I wish you great success!! Stressful situations like funerals can be triggers for stress eating. Just be aware of those kind of pitfalls and you will do awesome! Congrats again!! : )

CBF1000 So pleased to hear from you. Been wondering about you on your pre-op diet. Seemed a long time to be on it. But thinking about what you saying, I think we all have doubts, don't beat yourself about that. Of course it will work, because you want it to. Just concentrate on your pre-op diet for the moment luv. And good luck for your op.

  • Chances of not eating at a wake, well zero, not drinking, zero too.

I'm back on it tomorrow, I still have 10 days to shrink that liver!! LOL

I had a meet with the dietician today, and nurse, it went well. I am seeing the consultant on Friday and pre op stuff on the 27th.

I can't wait to just get it over and done with.

I've also handed in my notice in work and am going to concentrate on me for a change. I'm going to take a few months out, get fit, do a bit of re training and then onwards and upwards!!

Good for you CBF1000

Fancy, putting yourself first!!!! That's probably a first too.... Go for it. Well it sounds as though you're well on the way to the new you. Ten days should be fine. You've done some work already, right? And when I met with the hospital dietician she mentioned that if they get a cancellation you usually have just a week on the milk diet. So, it's not impossible Hun......

Willows doing well, sounding as though she's well on the way to recovery too.

Good luck to you, keep us up to date plz

Well saw my surgeon today, its all go for next Friday.

I'm to be there for around 6.30 and I'm the first in for surgery that day. His doing two ops on Friday, I should be having pre-ops on Thursday, bloods etc.

Did some shopping on the way back, chewable vits from Boots, apple juice, yogurts, frubes and about 12 ltrs of skimmed milk!. Monday will go shopping for Protein shakes and I'm going to buy some of those Ice Lolly kits and make my own sugar free ones for after the op.

I just want it all to be over now and to just concentrate on losing the weight.

Oh and no carbs, just milk and yogurt now :)

Hey CBF 1000 really close now....... On the old milk diet still, that's good to hear. Yeah, I been researching for sugar free ice lollies, and guess making them is best option. You'd think someone would sell them in supermarkets. After all, who wants to give their kids a mouth full of sugar. Have you read those labels??? What a shock, never thought of it before.

Great news you first down, post as soon as your with it plz, great to hear your organised, got all my stuff ready for hospital stay, although I don't know when that will be, haha good luck and keep posting

Well I guess I ought to start packing few things for the hospital!

Had the pre-ops on Wednesday. I will be at the hospital for 7.30am and I'm the first one in. Dr has two ops that day.

I really hope my diversions on the pre-op hasn't put a kibosh on the op, guess I will find out tomorrow.

I'm not nervous, just keen to get started on my new life :)

Will try and post tomorrow, as I'm taking the lap top with me and will let you know how I get on.

Stop being so hard on yourself, you stuck to the pre-op since your blow out so you should be just fine. It is a scary prospect, although I wasn't nervous about the op it was the being in hospital I dreaded lol. The first week can be hell but it does get so much easier, well done on looking out for yourself hun, I think we all need to do that more often.
Good luck for friday and will be thinking off you.

Well i'm home and resting.

I've been shocked at how debilitating the wind pain has been. I've had the nurses burping me and sick a few times but mainly just the Water I've been taking in.

I had nausea but blame the anesthetist, I told him no pre op and what does he do, pre op and gas. So I had to have loads of different anti sickness medicine,

All in all stil happy at this point and have never felt so full up in my life, just from drinking Water. I am going to attempt some apple juice and maybe some milky drinks later :)

Will report back in a few days.

As an aside I don't know how anyone can have the op and leave the next day, I couldn't have.

The wind is hellish isnt it? I was in pain from the incisions and from the internal stitches being too tight. So really glad to hear you are not suffering that way.

I left hospital the day after the operation simply because I hate hospitals and everytime I did doze off either someone would go to the bathroom and wake me (I am not used to people walking about past me lol) or some nurse would come over to check my stats. So despite being in agony getting home was the biggest issue for me lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
