Hello everyone my name is Taisha I’m 45 and have been married for over 22 years. My weight loss story started sep.2013 i can't say that I’ve been heavy all my life just 15yrs of it when it started. after having children i picked up a lot of weight and as time went on i got really sick and was diagnosed with chf (heart failure) then came diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis in my spine then depression and that's where my problem came in. i began to eat to keep myself calm when i became unable to work because of my back it got worse. What brought me here was i needed help my health is failing and i needed the weight off i tried everything i could think of and it became a yoyo effect. When i hit my highest weight of 256lbs i knew it was time to do something or i will not live long with my heart working so hard. i talked with a weight loss doctor in September 2013 i changed the way i ate and lost 30lbs on my own but i still need the extra help because I’m a stress eater. This Monday 3/14 i will see the doctor once again to find out what's the next step. I’m glad i found this site my husband is here for me but it's good to talk with someone who actually went through it or who is going on with it.

Good luck going ahead with the VGS, I am 73 & had mine 2/26. I had minimal pain & no problems with gas or nausea. I am doing 21 pounds since Ore-op diet & feel fear. Wishing you success

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
