So 1 month out kind of on a mini stall. Have lost 25lbs but for the last week the scale is up or down by a pound or 2 everyday. Starting exercise and went to know what works for everyone. Have been doing the biggest loser video game and ordered a spin bike that I am going to use at home while watching spin classes on YouTube. Ready to create the body I have always wanted.any suggestions?

Great topic! I have been trying to do as much strength training as I can. I really enjoy the Planet Fitness 30 minute express circuit. It keeps my heart rate up the whole time, and I love seeing myself do more reps & add more weights as my strength improves. In between each of the 10 lifting stations are stepping stations, and I do six different step routines, including arms, which I vary after each lifting station. Then I add some ab stuff when I'm done, then I do some stretching. My goal is to try to create muscles so the saggy skin on my upper arms, belly and upper thighs won't look so goofy! Plus, in this early phase we are losing some muscle mass since the weight is coming off so quickly. I want to maintain my muscle, baby. Who wouldn't want Michelle Obama's arms!? (not a Michelle fan, just an arm fan!)

Oh, and welcome to your first of many plateaus! I don't let myself get on the scale every day for that very reason. We know we're doing all the right things, and our body will reward us in time!

I am right there with you about building muscle!!! I have noticed that I seem super weak, like when I try to open things or tear things. I love Michelle and her arms and would be happy looking half as good as she does. But ya, not into the idea of saggy skin and want to do as much as I can to combat it. Haven't been to the gym since about a month before surgery and I felt super uncomfortable, plus it was crowded and I had no idea how to work all of that stuff, so I think i m going to wait about 40 more pounds and work on my excersise and confidence before I give it another try. Hey is the circuit thingy kind of like curves?

My best advice is not to let stalls get you down. They will come and go. I went through at least one stall a month for the past 15 months. I've learned that if I just keep on doing what worked before the stall, will start working again. The body just needs to take a timeout once in a while to get use to it's new lower weight.

Yes, very much like Curves! I used to do Curves a few years back, and I loved it. Planet Fitness just has better hours, and is closer to home & work for me. Also cheaper. But I think PF stole the Curves model on the 30 minute express. It's mostly women that do it, I've noticed. I remember the making good relatinships with the women at Curves, and really being encouraged to succeed. And the music was good there, too!

Another idea that I have done sounds a little goofy: marching in place with hand weights. I actually watched all 62 episodes of White Collar (AWESOME SHOW, HOT SMART MEN!) with 2 or 3 pound hand weights, marching like my life depended on it. It's amazing how a simple show that you love makes the time fly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
