In Denial: I was too tight, too long.

Recommended Posts

After my stomach flu scare a few days ago, I was certain that I had damaged my band - especially since I was a rather frequent PB'er. To my relief, my band is in good shape in spite of me experiencing two very real, very serious vomiting episodes. As a preventative measure, I asked to have .5cc's removed to allow more of an "escape route" just in case it wasn't over. What a huge difference! My food goes down way too easy now, but in this, I realize how much difficulty I was having with 5.0cc's. I've come to the conclusion that 4.5 isn't enough and 5.0 is too much...when I go back to get another fill in two weeks, I'm going to request .25cc's instead of the full .5 that has been taken out. I think that's going to be perfect and I can't wait to see if that .25 will bring me to a "true green" - I don't think I was really in the green, simply because eating was a bit tricky to manage. Now, it almost feels like I don't have a band and even more than that, a couple of weird pains I had are suddenly gone. What a difference a tiny bit of Fluid can make!

Isn't it though! Whoda thunk a measly .5 CCs could make your stoma open and close so much. My doc gave me a .25 fill when I went in for my 6th fill and that took me to the green zone.

That is exact what my scenario is!

Yes it does make a difference. I've had fills of just. .1cc a couple times and that's all I needed. Weird but it's all good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
