Im having my surgery tomorrow and im looking for some words of comfort. Im very nervous. Not exactly about the surgical aspect but with completely changing my lifestyle.

The steps after surgery are very gradual, which makes each stage of the diet/exercise plan much easier to handle. As soon as you are used to one diet stage, you get to add more food and different textures, and you learn the new normal for you. This isn't at all a lifestyle of deprivation. Even though your calories will be much less, you won't notice it after a while. People look shocked when I admit I eat 700-800 calories a day--but that is my new normal and I am fine with it. I don't feel like I am missing out at all.

So remember to take it one step at a time, and be patient. You will do great. Good luck tomorrow!

completely changing my lifestyle.

hi Lindsayloo1103

supppppport????

thats what we're here for!!!!!

i'm glad you are not that worried about the procedure itself

99.99999% of people have no problems except the normal post op gas, tiredness et al

good you realize what a lifestyle change this really will be!!

i'm sure you have done your homework about the surgery :)

you'll be only having Clear liquids to start, full liquids, pureed, soft finally solids

you must stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you eat

never drink with your meals

don't drink ater you eat for up to one hour

drink at least 64 oz of Water a day

chew thoroughly, into teeny pieces

eat sllllllowly

have at least 60gr Protein

and eat as few carbs as possible!!!

put utensils down in between bites

you are about to become a loser in training :)

there are MANY other younguns on the board that work, go to school, have exams et al

there are many other men/women that are "older" in their 30's ;) , 40's et al that have kids, work, and school too

we all have different stories, similarities (msp)

WLS brings us all together

your worries, concerns, anxiety are very common emotions

surgery tomorrow!!!!!

how exciting!!!!

you are on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life :)

as Teachamy said......"take it one step at a time and be patient"

good luck :)

speedy recovery :)

kathy

Hahaha. My surgery was on 2/24. I am a full time student and work full time. Thanks goodness I was able to take some time off of work. But I still had to maintain school and study for exams.... Yeah that was fun. sarcasm*

It took about 8 hours from the time of arriving to when i was able to go home. The surgeon said i am doing a great job with recovery but i walk a d sip and use this breathing thing but the gas has not gotten better. Last night i was able to get a few hours of sleep. Any other advice on the gas?! Its killing me!

Are you using Gas X? They have strips you can buy. Gas was the worst!

Walking is very important! It will help move the gas. Also a heating pad can ease the discomfort. It was pass, try to be patient. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
