Hi, I had my surgery in august so I am about 7 months in and have only lost about 35 lbs. I lost 10 of those on the pre-op diet. I am filled at 5.2 I believe. I get sick a lot no matter what I eat. I can eat something and be fine and the next day eat the exact same thing and it gets stuck. Also, when I do get sick because i feel my food is stuck most of what comes up isn't even food its flem. Does that happen to anyone else? I haven't lost much weight in a while no matter how good I eat. I don't know what to do. Hoping everything is ok with band and that it hasn't stopped working. I know Im eating bigger portions then I should. I don't get that same full feeling I did when I first came out of surgery. Does anyone have any advice or have experienced some of the same things?

A couple of questions, first what size band do you have? when was your last fill? the things you are describing are ones in which a doctor would decide to do a fill on you. if you are not filling up on 4 oz of food and are getting hungry between meals generally this means its time for a fill. call your doctor office for a appointment.

christinenicole, I'm having the exact same problems as you. One day I eat a salad with no problems, next day same food and I'm stuck. Am also stuck in weight loss..why? I am controlling the quality of food I eat but not the quantity..I thought the band would do that. I am 2 1/2 months out of surgery. Getting annoyed. I know I am ready for a fill.

My first suggestion too would be that you need a fill if you aren't staying full and are eating larger quantities of food. Sometimes, when we get stuck it's because we aren't chewing our food well enough or are eating too fast. The Phlegm or slimming your describing is par for the course when you're stuck. Actual throwing up is bad for your band. Are you possibly having productive burping? We have to remember that our bands are high maintenance when were in the losing phase and haven't met our "green zone". I'm six months out and still go see my surgeon once a month. I love the accountability and they help keep me on track.

Hi, I wa also banded in August and have lost only 39 pounds. I was at a Plateau for about 5 weeks during Jan-Feb. My last fill on Feb 17 seems to have ended that, but I have 6.5 CC in my band. Does food get stuck - yes, sometimes. Mostly when I forget to chew good enough. Somethime I think I let myself get too hungry and I hurry up and swallow just to get something in my pouch and that's wrong. I too still eat too much but that's what it's taking for me to fill satiated. It's getting better daily/weekly though and I think that if you just slow down and really concentrate when you're eating and chew really good you won't get stuck as often. If you're still eating too much I think it's a sign you are not in the "green zone" yet and require another fill. I think I need one more to be totally there. Keep pluggin away at it and keep us updated.

I'm an August 2013 bander too. How often do you have follow-up appointments with your surgeon? Mine are scheduled every four weeks. So, I think I've had seven appointments so far. I have gotten fills each time, however, I don't think I'll need another bc I think I'm finally in the GREEN. I, too, have random "stuck" episodes, but in retrospect, they all the time occur when I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing. For example, old habits: 1. Eating something cold out of the frig. 2. Not sitting down to eat, but shoveling in food while I'm walking around the kitchen doing something else. 3. Waiting too long to eat and quickly trying to get food in my stomach. 4. Too big of a fork full. 5. Not being mindful of slowing down and taking 20 mins to eat. That's been my hardest thing..... Trying to break bad habits that I've had for 50 years!!! I will tell you that I am experiencing a nice weight loss, but I am exercising SIX days a week. I think the exercise is the key for me. Like I said, it took me six fills to get in the green, so I can really see the difference now in the AMOUNT of food I can eat.... Very little!!!!! Hoping to take off another fifty pounds now that my band is at it's SWEET SPOT!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
