Lady at the doctors told me to remember this was a starvation diet... Starving I am! 3 shakes a day for three weeks seems so long and I'm only in day two. Massive headache the first day, today not so bad until I got home from work. However today I had the chi late shakes and they have gone right through me. Has anyone experienced this? Encouragement welcomed!

I didn't have to go on a liquid diet. I just had to go on a carb free diet and lose 5% of my wt. I was on this diet for months. the headaches can be from being caffeine free if you are used to caffeine. drink plenty of other fluids as well. you don't want to get dehydrated. I wish you lots of luck.

I had to have a two week liquid diet (four shakes a day, but I also could have beef or chicken broth, which helped with satisfying the need for savory as opposed to just sweet). It was a very hard two weeks, as it was during one of my son's high school graduation. So restaurant meals, parties to attend, award banquets, and we even threw him a crawfish boil in his honor. I never strayed one day. Yes, I was sometimes miserable, but I was never more determined.... I felt TRUE STARVATION for the first time in my life. I had to lose 8 pounds by the end of the two weeks, or I would not qualify for the surgery. I lost 11. (As a side note, my son used some of his graduation money and took me out to eat crawfish a while later..... Said he was sooo proud of how I stuck to the program). I'm having another crawfish boil this May for one of my daughter's college graduation. I will be 120 pounds less this year than I was last year in May. So is it worth it to follow the program????? You can bet your ___ ___ ___ it is!!!!!!!

Congrats on your amazing weight loss! I can only hope I am as successful as you!

You can and will be successful... Get to the right band adjustment, exercise, and practice PATIENCE. I put my scale away and quit hoping for a quick fix. I choose to weigh just once a month ( not recommending that, it's just what I chose to do). Made up my mind that the weight won't come off at the pace I want it to, so I learned to embrace the whole "journey" vs "quick trip" thing. Best Wishes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
