:D After waiting for weeks of evaluations and approval I think I am finally reaching somewhere. I am scheduled for surgery on April 7th. The reality of it all is now facing me. I am wondering if I can do the pre op drinks for 14 days. I guess I will know what I am really made of. ha, ha!!!!!! I have refrained from informing people around me except my immediate family. I just don't want to hear the negatives. This is for me and no one else. My knees are telling me, my so many medications are telling me, my diabetes is telling me. I have to get healthy. I have not mastered eating with no drinking, and the slow chewing. I tend to forget. I have also done 2 food funerals already. I am going to need you guys more than ever now!!!!!

Congratulations on your steps toward a healthier and more active future. I am in my final 2-week pre-op phase myself and have surgery 2 weeks from today. I can promise you that you won't always love the shakes, Jello and everything that comes along with the 2-week pre-op diet. I started mine about 1 month ago mixing in shakes with regular food just to get my mind and body ready.

I too have chosen to be very selective in who I share my weight loss journey with so I completely understand your not sharing it either with some people around you.

Stay strong, you are doing this for all the right reasons and you are going to love the finish line

Good for you! The pre op diet is hard, I did Clear Liquids for a week. Day 2 of that was on valentines day and it sucked! (I may have cheated a little) Just keep your eyes on the prize. My doctor said that my liver looked great thanks to the pre op diet- and I lost weight! I only told my family at first too, and I was planning on keeping it that way, but then somehow everyone at work found out. It is totally an individual thing, some people like to tell everyone, and some like to keep it to themselves. :) I wish you the best of luck!

Keep up the good work! And don't worry about the "eating without drinking" issue. There is NO WAY I could have done this pre-sleeve, and now it's just a habit. I didn't really even follow that rule to the letter until I started on solids, since it wasn't until solid food that I felt "full" after eating. You will definitely have to push liquids & shakes in between meals to stay hydrated, but here's a little trick I use after eating: spray breath spray on your tongue, then apply a very minty lip gloss. I get a shimmer minty gloss from Bath & Body Works. Your mouth will feel fresh and you won't feel the need to wash the food down. Later you can add gum after meals if you like - I accidentally did this from the outset - I somehow skipped over the part of the education where they told me not to. But I'm an optometrist, so I am always close to folks' faces, and my breath was crazy funky for the first few months post-op. Scraping my tongue after brushing helped a bit, but the minty stuff was necessary!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
