This is my first post, but I'm looking for some words of encouragement for my surgery tomorrow. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30, so that means getting up around 3 a.m. I'm so excited to start this new part of my life! Any words of wisdom?

Congrats to all March surgery candidates I wish you all a lifetime of health and happiness and a surgery that goes smoothly!!! My date is April 21 and I am so excited to regain control over my health and happiness. It took 20+ years for me to put on over 325 lbs of weight and I know it's gonna take a minute to reach my goal weight of 150 lbs but I know I will be successful with the help and support of all of you my new family!!! God bless us all!!!

Tyt keep your chin up and just think of all the good to come. A new you. Got you in my prayers. Can't wait to see you on the other side. Remember sip sip sip :)

Practicing sipping slowly now prior to my surgery date and eating more clear and soft foods in an effort to prepare my mind, body and soul for the two week clear liquid diet my doctor requires prior to surgery. I am so grateful to hav efound this site where I can get such great support and encouragement form everyone!!!!

Just saw this post, and wanted to say that I hope things went smoothly for you, and that you are home resting and feeling better every day!

Thanks everyone. I came home today. I'm more sore than I was at the hospital but I'm attributing that to the 1 1/2 hour trip that was at times bumpy. Today I had my first liquids other than Water, which was nice. I didn't come anywhere near getting in my 60 g of Protein today, but I didn't start until around 4 with anything other than water. I'll do better tomorrow.

So glad your home and feeling somewhat well. From everything I've read, it's not so much the Protein you REALLY need to worry about, it's more about staying hydrated, so I wouldn't be overly worried about the Proteins. Feel better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
